My setting for better Visibility and FPS in DCS you're mileage and fps may vary, system dependant.

Steam Vr

Thanks for this input ! I’m happily on the G2 train as well with a sweaty 1080Ti / 8700k.

One question:
How come your steamVR resolutions say 182% & 124% but the pixel counts are both under the native resolution for the G2 ?

I get much higher values at 100%..

Agreed Blackshark that is more like the G1 from what I have seen.

Even more odd, I get different pixel values on my G2 @ 100% then shown in these screenshots. Nearly the same, but like x3106 pixels or something like that..

Maybe it’s linked to the GPU ?

AFAIK it is dependent on the individual hardware. I think that this is where a LOT of confusion comes in when people are posting settings, For example, when I first looked at the OP's settings I almost spat my bacon sandwich out...How does he possibly run at 182% & 124% ?????? with a 2080 card??? ( this multiplies out at 225% SS !!!!!) Then if you look at the pixels, they tell a different story. If I set 182% my pixels figure is a lot higher ( not at my sim PC until Thursday, so I cant check and give a figure, but from memory this would be a 3000 x 3000 approx number...)

So I think people should think in terms of total pixels being pushed rather than SS % ages.....

No what is creating the confusion is he has stated this is Reverb G2 settings, and that pic does not represent a Reverb G2 resolution, more like a G1 resolution. If he indeed has a G2 then we would like to know how his resolution settings in Steam VR is so different than all the others that have been reported. If he does have a G1 instead then would probably be good for him to change the title of the thread to reflect that. Otherwise folks be scratching their head.

The resolution bar figures (percentage vs pixel number) are dependent on what beta for WMR for SteamVR you are opted into.  Latest Beta is much higher pixels for percent than the lkg beta for example

The whole thing is a mess and open to different people reporting different results using different hardware and software.

Do you have to update the beta or does auto update? I have noticed mine auto updating a couple of times, does that mean I am running the latest or do i also need to choose it from within the steam VR settings?

As I understand it, you select the beta program that you wish to enroll in and then that will auto update.

For example, when I right click on WMR for SteamVR and select properties, then Betas, it gives me an option if I want to opt into the "beta - public beta" or "lkg_release" or "none".

My point about the resolution numbers vs the percentage bar is that, I believe, depending on which beta you select, the bar will show a different scale.  ie : 100% in one beta will give be a different resolution than 100% on another beta.

....just more variables to confuse everyone and invalidate comparisons!

The 'lkg beta' is basically the 'last known good', and at the moment, it is ancient.  Well before the G2 was released.  No need to use that at all.

There have been so many threads on this subject already.  Go onto the main G2 thread to see dozens of posts on this.

The fact is that SteamVR 100% (3170x3170 give or take a few pixels) is the recommended-by-HP default resolution to run the G2.  That is to compensate for the built-in barrel distortion.

To explain the OP's original figures - firstly, as has been said, they don't look correct for the G2, they are the figures I was getting when I had a G1.  Having said that, here is what they mean.

The 2172x2120 is the general, unmodified (by app specific factor) resolution as set in the main SteamVR settings with a multiplier of 182%. That gives total pixels of 4.6m.

The 2420x2360 is the number of pixels AFTER the app specific multiplier - 124% in this case - has been applied to the default multiplier. That is 5.7m.

Multiply 4.6m by 1.24 and you get 5.7m.

I hope that helps.

Are you sure you are not running the lkg beta?

EDIT: Ignore that, I can see from your first post that you are running the normal beta!

Basically this is as high as I can go, without the frames dropping more than 35 fps each eye, so I'll keep theses settings.v11519 beta

in game it look very good to me and much better than the Rift CV1 I had before. so when the RTX3080s come out in Q3, I'll be able to

upgrade but for now the 3000 series, are non existent, in my world. I don't hack the internet to bot a 3000 card, and I will not pay over $1000 dollars for a 3000 series card.

I'll just wait it out until the computer market takes a big dump by the end of the year.

You *should* be able to run higher settings in my experience if you’re willing to install some mods like « VR Shader » and « No Flat Shadows ». I’m running mostly 45+ FPS with reprojection in MP (BlueFlag server) @ PD 1 and SS 80% in SteamVR on a 1080Ti @ 1.9 GHz.

Yet, in your OP, you posted around 2100 at 182%! Something doesn't add up here as we have been saying throughout this thread.
