Hello all.

My 1st post here (or anywhere for that matter).

I am a 36 year old gent from Norway that stumbled over some videos of someone called Glowing Am.... something

Anyway, i tought i ask in here before even thinking about running out to try and find this game.

Been spending an hour or so reading on this forum now and it might just be alittle to mutch for me, being a very casual gamer and the only other flight simulator i ever played is the MFS series from microsoft.

Only have a Saitek EVO stick but that can be upgraded rather easly i guess. Maybe the most important thing is can my system handle this game?

Specs:

Intel core Duo E6850 running at 3.15 GHz

4 giga ram

geforce 8800 GTX

vista 64 bit.

Guess what i am realy asking for is there anyway, a rather casual gamer like myself would ever have any hope of realy learning this game? :joystick:

Any help, suggestios even warnings would be highly welcome.

Thx in advance and sorry for my rather limited english skills.

Yes, it is in fact a game for casual gamers, though it has aspects that will teach you the finer points of combat flight - quirks aside :)

Hi Kris,

you have the same system spec as me except im using XP.

I have everthing maxed out except scenes set at medium and the game runs fine.

I also have an X52pro and for the price its well worth the invesment but i'd advise TrackIR as a must first.

Also check the link for frame capping to help keep a smoother ride.

Quick question about the X52, maybe I missed it but: Does the Stick has the Rudder option? Or do I need seperate Rudder pedals?

Sorry for OT ;)

The Flight-Stick itself has a 'twist-rudder' so pedals are an optional extra. I would however advise that if you can - purchase them in any event, if only as a pre-emptive acquisition for Black Shark ;)

Also - dependant on the Airframe you wish to inhabit - sure makes a difference in the T-Bird. However not a gamebreaker for Flaming Cliffs.

Welcome to the Community M8 :)

And yes - TrackIr would be a wise purchase indeed

Thanks for the quick response and the warm welcome :)

For sure I know about that rudder pedals are better than a stick with the 'twist-rudder'. For Black Shark I agree with you that it's the better option with the pedals as you said.

So now I know what to save my money for :joystick::smartass:

Trackir is more important than HOTAS imo. You can live with

cyborg Evo but TrackIR is a must if you want to play multiplayer

since Padlock is generally disabled on all servers.

oh well, i would say x52 before pedals (if you even need pedals).

x52 has twist axis, which I think most people use.

hmm ye but I guess flying an Black Shark which is behaving like the real one we would do even better with rudder pedals that with the twist rudder...just my thought. I've been doing well with the twist rudder in any previous game though.

But I will see for myself how I do with the twist rudder when DCS is released and will test then :smartass:

You need to be proactive and precise with the rudder, whether being gentle or aggressive with it ... I don't think a twist-stick will do it.

All you Need to do now is decide what aircraft to fly, also you might want to think about joining a squad, this will help you through the learning curve, there are many a good squad out there, anyway welcome to the Game, I would advise if you have not all ready done so is downloading and running Hyperlobby so you can fly with other guys on the many servers that support Lomac 1.12, hope to meet you in the Virtual sky. :)

PS : My advice if flying on any server for at least the first time, is to read the rule's, it will enhance your experiance.:smartass:

Thank you guys for all your opinions and tips!

Flaming Cliffs arrived today, last 4 hours I was messing around with the SU-25T, gotta love the advanced damage system and flight model. I've been playing lock on for 2-3 years, not really serious though, just to have some fun with it.

But with Flaming Cliffs I think I try to take the Sim itself abit more seriously, trying to improve my flight skills and to have a bridge until DCS will be released

Will look into multiplaying Lock On FC soon :joystick:

Thanks again :smartass:

Wow lots of posts since i left for a little vacation, found a CD version of Lock On Gold, installed, and some starforce drive dident want to let me boot up again

So have now done a reinstall of the OS, any workaround for this issue? Or maybe buy a downloadable version will do the trick?

Im on vista 64 bit btw.

Browsing the SF website here... Would this work? :
