Hi I was thinking, maybe in mission editor there should be an option for a Green faction.
ie. on Syria map if playing Americans could have Russia and Syria as set to green, insurgents set to Red.

If Russians then Americans set to green.

Should also have the ability to set Green faction or just a unit to be able to attack other factions or side with red or blue.

I would like more than 3 independent factions.
I would love to have 5- Red, Blue, White, Green, Yellow for example.

This would add diversity to a fight..

+1!

Two factions is way too few, please add at least one or two more!

They have already added purple a few months ago.

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

Well, it's more 'white' and all it is, is the non-assigned 'countries' and there's no way to set allegiance, and they're non-combative, so functionally speaking, there's still really only 2 coalitions, if that makes sense.

As for the OP, the best system is something like C:MO, which allows you to add, edit and delete coalitions/sides at will, you can give them a unique name, set their allegiance, set skill levels and doctrine for newly formed units (while retaining the ability to set them on a per-unit basis).

In this system countries don't get assigned to units, and they're just used to filter units, and every unit is available to every side (there's just a drop down menu for which side the unit is on).

See this thread, this post in particular.

I didn't meant to say that all is good in DCS since the purple faction got introduced. I just wanted to point out that improvements have been made, although the're is still a lot of room for improvement. As a huge CMO fan (and CMANO before that) I'm well aware of their system and I agree that this offers indeed the most flexibility.

Adding to this, it would be nice to see a 'relations' option be in as well, in order to mimic the complexities of modern coalitions. For example being able to set team Blue as being aggressive to team Red, but 'tolerable' to team Green, and 'peaceful' to team Yellow, but Team Yellow is aggressive to team Green, and just tolerates Red and so on. This could make things interesting when you're talking about, for example, a Civil War scenario where the players are part of a PMC, and having to deal not only with the main two factions (red and blue), but outside forces as well trying to push their influence.
