Is it the fact that there are settings I need to tweak, but the new clouds, which look great in 2D BTW, look really in distinct and blurry in VR.....I just downloaded and installed the 2.7 update tonight and while the clouds are awesome, I am disappointed in the lack of detail in VR , even set to ultra.

what are your guys settings using a G2 and is there any new settings I am missing maybe? And any idea why they look so bad in VR, when everything else looks OK?

Agree on my 34”1440p monitor with high settings and tracker ir it looks amazing, like a brand new sim with better performance too. G2 same o same I mean is okay but not the hooooly crap this is amazing. In my fpsvr graph I’m in the orange now with my settings so have to tweak alittle. I’m running 100% and steamvr per app at 80% it runs smooth but the clouds are no defined like on a monitor. But that just may be how it goes, i haven’t a clue.

Unless I´m wrong, as of today, it doesn´t matter what quality you choose for VR clouds, they are somehow capped on this first iteration.
what about the vertical jitttering, do you notice it as well?

I´m with you. Reverb G2.

To me the clouds look very fuzzy and blurry. Am very disappointed.  And the performance has become worse. 😕

Not noticed the jittering really yet, some weird twinkling and changing of colours from the clouds reflected onto the sea I noticed though, at dawn. I turned off my fpsvr as once set up, I think it just makes you more aware of any issues, so can’t comment on performance, but it’s not noticeably worse.

I know it’s a beta and first release etc, but really hoping that’s not it for us VR fellows....

It would be useful if ED could actually explain what’s going on, why and what and when they can do about it..........

Absolutely agree...clouds look pretty bad in Vr right now... Wonder if we can keep the other updates and just set the clouds back to what they were until Ed has a chance to work thier magic on them...

I'm going to take a complete shot in the dark and assume that the clouds are rendered in a different buffer, and the quality control is a voxel resolution control, which is also probably somehow tied to your screen resolution.  It looks like for VR the voxel resolution is defaulting to a low value.  It also sounds like people are having edge aliasing issues in 2D when using certain monitor resolutions.  It's a new toy.

Sounds like a reasonable explanation. Certainly there's zero difference between standard and ultra settings.

Personally I still think they're brilliant in VR though as I never fly in 2D I'm not comparing to that experience.

I don't own it (or want it) but if you look at Youtube posts of VR users of that MS sim, their clouds in VR don't appear to look any better. Just as blurry with all of MS's resources behind their development. In fact, and I'm only going off Youtube vids, but I'd say ED's look better and more varied.

I think they're worth it just for their shadow effects on the terrain, and have you tried the rainy versions, or dropped the temp and tried to navigate through a major snow storm ?

VR is always going to be a compromise visually compared to 2D, so I guess we choose between immersion and cinematography.
