SpaceEnthusiast
Hi, ever since the 2.7 open beta update the SEA radar seems to not be able to pick up ships unless they're close enough to be seen by the naked eye. I've attached a track and the mission I'm using, but the issue persists in different missions. The ship is definitely in range since it can faintly be seen in MAP mode, but in SEA mode, nothing shows up. After running a slow repair + removing extra files & making a new Saved Games folder, the issue still persists. oldcrusty
I haven't seen the track but it might be as simple as making sure your radar is looking at the ship. I can see on your picture that you're between 1800 and 2200 feet. How far was the ship at that time? Was it moving? If not, make sure it is. Climb a little. Btw, I locked a gunboat moving at 50 knots from 80 nm. I was at 30k. I wish A/A radar worked like this, hehe.
G.J.S
I haven’t flown Hornet in a great many weeks, does the radar still have that ‘cone of limited detectability’ extending straight out the nose? Try putting the expected target about 10 to 15* off the nose and see if you gain a pick up. Also I would gain a bit more altitude. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted May 1, 2021 ED Team Share Posted May 1, 2021 Altitude will play a part in acquisition with RADAR at sea, if you are low it reduces the range. thanks Forum rules - DCS Crashing? I did the same mission in 2.5 and it seems to be able to detect the ship at the same altitude.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted May 1, 2021 ED Team Share Posted May 1, 2021 Yes it was adjusted to consider line of sight and curvature of the earth. 1 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Hulkbust44
Yeah you're at 1800 feet. That would be the problem. Also, is the ship moving?Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
