sobek Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Are these official? ED seems to be a bit buttoned up today. 2 Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

telepathiclove Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 does this mean AMD cpu will run not so good with black shark? They aren't official, the offical ones will probably be similar but will include "AMD equivalent" or something. And if not, you can safely assume that anyway. The only thing I doubt (and hope) is that the CPU recommendation isn't that high. A 3ghz dual or quad core is cutting out a lot of people. Even a Q6600 is only 2.4ghz. I would guess that the recommended specs will say 2.4ghz. I can imagine the game being very CPU intensive though so, who knows. Most sims are incredibly CPU intensive.
DTWD Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 FC was CPU and not GPU intensive and DCS is based on FC code but is DX9 complient...so to be honest I haven't got a clue what is comming out! If it's DX9 then there is nothing stopping the GPU doing a lot of work and thus keeping a lot of load of the CPU, but if it's old code then it might work any old how. However I just wanted to let you know that a Q6600 can be overclocked to 3GHz really really easily. Regards Paul Regards [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
-Skipper- Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Indeed. I run mine at 3.8GHz from day one - aircooled! Never get anything above 56°C. But anyway, these numbers are just rule of thumb. You can probably run it on a system with lower settings perfectly, if you have set up your machine with a little planning. ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
DTWD Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 3.8!?!?! Air cooled!?!?!? Do you live in the antarctic? I went with 3GHz as it seemed a nice safe figure for air cooling, although I am running one of the energy efficient versions of the 6600. So what are you doing to get 3.8 out of it and it remain stable? Regards Paul Regards [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I think only the self shadowing is DX9, the rest is still DX8 effects and stuff. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
DTWD Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 LOL so we get shaddows back (which were an FPS killer anyway so it might help) but everything else is still CPU based...great news :( Regards Paul Regards [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
159th_Viper Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 3.8!?!?! Air cooled!?!?!? Do you live in the antarctic? A Squad-M8 (Axion) is running his E8600 @ 4.4GHZ stable on air.........so in this day and age there is indeed hope for a stable, high FPS Flight.......:D Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Not really :smilewink: But this Thermalright SI-120 in combination with a good 120mm fan does a really great job. :D I used to have an EVGA 680i and 3.6 was quite easily achievable. With my new AbitX38 I ran successful memtests with both, 3.9 and 4 GHz. It's just that the passive cooling of the board needs additional fans then, to keep temperature in levels I feel comfortable with and I don't like the additional noise for that little performance gain. IMHO it depends a lot on the PowerSupply and the memory you use. The rest is a lot of passion needed to fiddle around with the settings. ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Recommended CPU specs doesn't sound as much far fetched as the minimal. I mean, P4 2,0 GHz? I struggle to make FC run at decent fps with my P4 3,0 GHz!
