Is there a focus setting on the NVG that I'm not seeing? I can't make our the cockpit instruments on the dashboard in front of me, they're always blurry.

NVG are usually focused to see distant objects.  Also in RL you just look under your nods.

There is a mod that replicates that really well.  Other than that the best solution is to just use them off and on.

Instruments are self iluminated, you dont need an NVG to reading it, use the fov outside the NVG or take it off

You don't say which module but generally it helps a lot to set the instrument brightness very low. How to do that is module dependent. I can read the airspeed in the P-51 with NVG, for example, simply by turning the instrument illumination way down. In the Hornet you also need to put the various displays in "night" mode and use the NVG switch.

I am starting to use NVGs in VR.  Sometimes the NVG display is the "goggled" mode other times the entire display is green.  This has happened in several different missions, both single and multiplayer, with no changes between each play session.  Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

Some good info in that, though some things are misleading.
