Been using 2.5.6 stable fir six months with SteamVR. Update to 2.7 tiday then fire it up. Try to open SteamVR first like normal and the usual “start in offline mode” option is not there (I only play standalone not online). Figured I had to update something whatever so for shits and giggles I open dcs and all of a sudden it comes on screen and it’s in my oculus. Smoother and clearer than ever. Is this a new thing with 2.7 or have I been accidentally running incorrectly this whole time?!?!

If you are on Oculus runtime, SteamVR was never needed.

It depends…for me running it correctly means SteamVR with Reshade as that isn’t supported via Oculus runtime.

Hello Supmua,

Do we have a link that explain how to use an oculus headset with DCS through SteamVR ?

it is not a usal way to use occulus heaset but why not ...

The first time i read about Reshade , i believed that was not available for occulus Headset.

I own a Rift CV1

and i would like to give a try to this reshade.

Thanks

Just manually stop the Oculus runtime in the services tab.

It won't run again unless you start it again.

If you happen to use the Oculus Tray Tool, it has an option to stop the service as well.

Stop occulus,

and then Start SteamVR i suppose.

This is more simple than i believed...

So i 'll give a first try without reshade

Many Thanks.

I have tried using steamvr with standalone DCS, but i couldnt start DCS with steamvr when oculus has been shut down.

It said it needed oculus running before steamvr could load DCS.

If you’re trying to use standalone DCS:
- open oculus app
- connect quest, enable oculus link
- open DCS with VR enabled.

If you’re needing to use SteamVR with quest, as above, but after you’ve enabled oculus link, start steam VR.

Personally I use DCS Updater GUI and choose Oculus as my VR api, and then click the launch in VR button.

I have this same issue and cannot for the life of me seem to find a solution. DCS would not launch in SteamVR even if I select the SteamVR API in the DCS Updater GUI... Any ideas?

EDIT: Starting DCS by selecting SteamVR API and with the "VR ON" button worked in loading it in SteamVR. Go figure.

Thanks for the headup.

I've choosen not to use steamvr.

It may have been a way to try to fix my VR issues.

But after i upgraded my cpu from a ryzen 5 2600 to a 5600x my problems were solved thankfully.

A little more organized information here on exactly what/how I have done it.

With Quest 2 I was only able to find a good solution if I run the steam version without Steam VR. Reshade is really good stuff but with Steam VR, as another software  between Oculus, the tools and DCS I never found as good settings as I found without it and I'm now at a point where I can truly say, I dont need Reshade anymore. I have a natural crispy look ingame, can spot other planes from about 25 miles and a bit more.

Reshade makes everything look a bit more crispy but unnatural. For lower end PCs this is a good way to get a nice shap look.
