I’ve noticed with the latest update that the ‘howl’ sound has gone when the engines spool up, is this intended?

The howl sound works, I can hear it. Maybe not as loud as it used to be. But to be honest, I'm not at all sure if this sound should be heard in the cockpit. I don't remember hearing it in any video. If you have a reference, please share, I will adjust the volume to the desired level

There you go .. this is left engine with canopy closed. Earlier in the vid there is a spool up sound with canopy open. Closed the howl on startup is not the most present for sure. Of course this video is by nature not an in helmet sound. For me it is fine like it is now after the hotfix. I guess OP ran it without the hotfix?

I think the OP is referring to the howl the engines make when running them up, not necessarily the startup howl.

Thanks, but I think we speak about the howl sound, not startup. And there are no howl sounds in this video

Yeah sorry, misunderstood that. Thought about the startup sound.

The best reference example I can find is on this Twitch VOD - timestamps for the howl are 6:25, 6:52, 7:06 and 7:15 https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1076791904?filter=archives&sort=time

I can still hear a slight howl in the latest release but not as prounounced as before in the example aboves. BTW I'm not running any mods at all and I have the standalone version of DCS, not Steam. Also I haven't applied the sound hotfix mentioned

That might be the matter. Do that and then judge again. They stated that it will be part of the next official update.

Something interesting from that video is how loud the flaps moving are, at least that 's what I think that sound is.  Maybe something else to consider @btd

Well, we asked the SME that recorded that video. And he answered "No idea. It’s not normal. I imagine it’s something with the camera."

Yea, really interesting, but flaps is hydraulic. And we hear some electric motor. I'll try to find out what is it.

It is the seat height adjustment.

Try unticking the option 'Hear like in helmet'. That changes sounds a bit.

I don't know his hand isn't anywhere near the switch for that though and we don't see the camera move up or down either.

His hand is exactly where the switch is and it it is just a little lift up. You can see it.
