captain_kaoss Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 I’ve noticed with the latest update that the ‘howl’ sound has gone when the engines spool up, is this intended?
Tholozor Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 Gonna need a track, as I can hear the spool-up howl just fine. captain_kaoss Posted July 29, 2021 Author Posted July 29, 2021 Here's a track. The spool-up sound is hardly audible to what it was before - the predominate noise appears to be the new wind over canopy sound test.trk
Andartu Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Have a look at this. You also will find a hotfix there.

The howl sound works, I can hear it. Maybe not as loud as it used to be. But to be honest, I'm not at all sure if this sound should be heard in the cockpit. I don't remember hearing it in any video. Earlier in the vid there is a spool up sound with canopy open. Closed the howl on startup is not the most present for sure. Of course this video is by nature not an in helmet sound. For me it is fine like it is now after the hotfix. I guess OP ran it without the hotfix?

nighthawk2174 Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 Something interesting from that video is how loud the flaps moving are, at least that 's what I think that sound is. Maybe something else to consider @btd https://youtu.be/yeij-YX9MdY?t=693

If you have a reference, please share, I will adjust the volume to the desired level The best reference example I can find is on this Twitch VOD - timestamps for the howl are 6:25, 6:52, 7:06 and 7:15 https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1076791904?filter=archives&sort=time I can still hear a slight howl in the latest release but not as prounounced as before in the example aboves. BTW I'm not running any mods at all and I have the standalone version of DCS, not Steam. Also I haven't applied the sound hotfix mentioned Edited August 5, 2021 by captain_kaoss

It is the seat height adjustment.
