It is recommended to add jdam-er bomb for fa-18c

Boeing’s JDAM-Extended Range (JDAM-ER) is the latest variant. It is intended for use on the 500-pound (226.79 kg) bombs . It differs from the standard JDAM in that is has wings that unfold in flight to triple the range from 15 nautical miles (17.26 mi, 28 km) to over 40 miles (64.73 km). The modular nature of the kit means that it can be easily upgraded as technology improves and options such as improved laser sensors, GPS jamming immunity and an all-weather radar sensor can be added.

Most of jdam-er is known to use gps guidance

Too new for our model of the F/A-18.

In fact, all U.S. fighters that can launch jdam can use jdam-er, and roughly only need to modify the internal software of the fighter. To insist that jdam-er is too new for fa-18c is not appropria

The point is that JDAM-ER wasn't in service in the U.S. during the timeframe our Hornet is representing.

At the time you mentioned, jdam-er is conducting test experiments on fa-18c, and the official service is about 2015, and then all fa-18c has completed the fighter software update to mount jdam-er ,It would be ridiculous to use this as an excuse to explain that fa-18c cannot use jdam-er

Adding JDAM-ER is just to increase the fun for everyone

You're free to have your opinion about that, but the fact of the matter is that, by your own argument, JDAM-ER entered service a whole decade later than the version of the Hornet we're getting. This is the same argument regarding APKWS rockets for the Hornet, or SDBs for the Viper, and the answer will still be the same: not going to happen.

JDAM-ER was developed as a joint venture between Boeing and the RAAF, with Australian Hornets being the primary platform. I'm not aware that the USN or USMC have bought any or expressed interest in the program at all, they already have JSOW which is a similar system with better capability.

So this is out of scope both in time frame and nationality.

So only weapons used by the US matter and every other country that flys the hornet doesn't matter and can bugger off?

Q: What version of the Hornet is included?

A: United States Navy / US Marine Corps F/A-18C in the 2005 time frame.

ED not build a Spanish, Canada, Australian, Fidland, Switzerland, Kuwait or Malaysia version. That is the same situations with the F-16C with some part of comunity like a Grecce / Turk / Israel version, but ED only build specific versions. The other versions has changes requested by your contries, with diferent radar, systems, engines and armament on diferent blocks.

Would it be nice to have. absolutely! I would personally also love the APKWS in the Hornet. It is unlikely that it would get it anytime soon though. Maybe in 10 years when all the 2010s stuff is old hat ED will be interested in making updated aircraft. Who knows. maybe in 20 years they will have f22s and f35s in there as stock modules too. That said, Just because its on the aircraft now doesn't mean we get to have it in our game. I think we would have a better shot convincing them to add the APKWS to it only for this reason, Because APKWS is very much alive in well inside of their "WORLD" in DCS World. It is already being deployed on the a10c II and on the harrier in game. At least for the APKWS we can reason that from a development standpoint, all the assets are already built and tested, and from a lore standpoint, it is very much in operational use in the universe of DCS World. That said, in the real world, (by a quick Wikipedia search) APKWS was deployed in 2013 on A-10s but wouldn't see deployment on legacy hornets until 2018 with the Marines.

From a development time vs return perspective, It doesn't seem that great either for ED to develop the JDAM-ER. They may be lighter and cheaper but otherwise, in game their role can already be filled by the AGM-154C. And speaking of roles, for every person that wants to add some futuristic or or very rare (for the time) weapon to an aircraft, their is another person that will make a huge fuss about it being added because it isn't "realistic" enough for their view of the module. (insert f16 harm joke here)

To ED, I have this to say. Thank you for all the nice toys you give us to play with. Please don't stop. Please take it under consideration to give us more fun toys to play with! And whatever you do, don't take away our toys!

".... now where did I put my credit card...." (drools at the apache teasers)
