I just had to chime in.  This is, indeed a MASTERPIECE!  Why don't we have more things like this? I would pay money for this "immersive incredibly evolved missions".

This was, indeed, more like an action short than it was a mission.  Absolutely incredible!!!!

I had the same problem / question as above with the tanker: not if tunned by me, nor if tunned by Jester, would the the TACAN give any readback.  So finding the Tanker is a real treat.  I had to F2 until I saw the C-130, note his coords and heading, plot a course, intercept it until Jester finds him somewhere in the horizon, STT him, and only then was I able to merge with the tanker.

What follows contains a spoiler, but I thought it's worth mentioning:

  Hide contents

... after you go through the entire process and are presented with the option (...)

Also, I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but when taking off, the carrier shows up to 1% damage as I am being pulled by the catapult.  Not sure if this is a "new" bug, I have never had this happen before.

Again, thanks for a master piece of a mission!  Best regards,

Rafa.

Very happy you liked it. The tanker dunno why it is not showing, something changed, although it should have been fixed on Jester side, we'll take another look.

As for the decision... if you knew, it would not be the same. I know, this is a bit of a "screwing with the player", but you get the choice to do the right thing. It's rare that we can have consequences beyond a mission, hehe. And it would be sad, if knowing would basically alter your choice. In hindsight, it involves a somewhat philosophical question about right or wrong. And when it "hurst", whether you stand by that decision or not... I am sure you will regain what you lost fairly quickly though. 🙂

The Forrestal taking 1% damage on take off and landing is a bug currently.

We do but Mike is very busy. We have Op. Reforger Pt. I campaign, the second part is around the corner, PG Watching the Devildog is masterpiece too, check also PG Pitching Deck. I also heard there's mini campaign for South Atlantic map.

I don't know if you're already aware (or even better, already a happy customer 😉 ), but just in case:

On the 3rd-party side, @Reflected has released two great DLC SP campaigns for the Tomcat: "Zone 5" (which he made together with "Bio" Baranek , that emulates a TOPGUN training detachment), and "Fear the Bones", which is more like a Hollywood action film (story wise), albeit with realistic procedures and tactics. He also already submitted the files for his upcoming "Speed and Angels" campaign to ED, which he made with "Paco" Chierici, a "training campaign" which basically adapts the stories from both Paco's documentary "Speed and Angels" as well as his novel "Lions of the Sky" into DCS: so about half the campaign will be spent in the RAG, where you learn the basics of Tomcat operations from a real former F-14 pilot, and the other half is with the Fleet. Also, check out the voice actors for this campaign!

Further down the road, @baltic_dragon is working with Mooch on a Tomcat campaign as well. But that's still a long while off, I believe.

Thanks for the recommendations!  I own both Zone 5 and the Fear the Bones campaigns, but I have not yet started them, as I'm doing the Warbirds campaigns first.

Thanks @draconus for recommending the "included" campaign and missions.  I just finished Watching de Devildog and I agree it's another masterpiece.  I like it how this missions force you to refuel in order to achieve them, I wouldn't have become more proficient on air-to-air refueling without them.

Also, I had to refresh concepts like Computer Pilot delivery mode, created my own mini-mission to "train" how to take down an Mi-8 which is the perfect IR evasion machine, and also nice to do some more carrier landings.

So, I concur, it's another masterpiece that plays as nicely (or even more so?) than the Training Day.   So, thanks Heatblur, if this is what we can expect from the F-4, you have my money! 🙂

Thanks again!

Rafa.

Edit: @IronMike, yeah, I fully agree with your assessment, that is why I came to compliment on the masterpiece and not complain on the minor issue I locked under the spoiler block.  It is a masterpiece and I really appreciate it!

I'm really glad you enjoy the missions. 🙂 If you haven't yet, you can also try OP Reforger campaign on caucasus and The Final Hour minicampaign on South Atlantic. Another mission which I personally like a lot is Clay Dagger on Marianas, however it is not voice acted unfortunately, and rather difficult, as you have to fight tropical inclement weather at the same time, one day, if time permits, I may turn it into something more akin to Training Day and Watching the Devildog. Likewise, on Syria, I recommend the chem strike mission, the full version from Carrier Take off, but this, too, is not voice acted. 🙂

I may be missing something... I don't have any mission on either Marianas or Syria (I do own Syria and have both maps and installed):

They are instant action missions. Those are all worth checking out, too, btw. We treat instant action more like quickstart, rather than "hop in medias res", which ofc is also offered plenty in the IA missions. You also have fear the bones and zone 5 demo missions there, etc etc. 🙂 For example both training day and watching the devildog were first created as instant action missions hehe.

Reviving an old thread here: does anyone know how to check in with Romeo on the KY 28?  Is this something Jester does automatically?  After the in flight refuel, I can navigate the jet to the new waypoint, but once I'm there, I never get any tasking!

How are you navigating there? If you are flying some odd course way around north or so, you may be missing the trigger zone on the way there. iirc Romeo checks in with you before you arrive there. I can look into expanding the trigger zone, but it should be covering normal direct approaches from the tanker. if you are unsure, fly there on a direct line between the bombing range at poti and the new waypoint.

(disregard the ky28, that is not factoring into progression, and Jester "does" it, aka is mentioned for immersion.)

Thanks Iron Mike.  I just flew directly from the tanker (after topping up) to the waypoint (just to the East of the town apparently) and set up an orbit there and waited...and waited...finally I started to head back to the boat (heading west) when suddenly Jester established comms with the ground entity.  I followed the vehicle through the hills, watched as it pulled into a small compound and continued on.  For a moment it looked like there was about to be some action, but then nothing.  Finally I had to bingo back to the boat.  Is there another trigger I'm missing?  Is there a way to see the triggers in the mission planner?  Seems like I'm missing out on a cool mission!

You've seen almost all of it 😉

Of course it's best when it works perfectly but this is sad true in constantly changing DCS. You can see all triggers and zones in Mission Editor (some can be hidden by default).
