HappyVoo
When is it possible to simply operate a soldier's start instead of walking with an anti-aircraft weapon?

Silver_Dragon
DCS never planned as a intantry simulator, and the intantry models coming from LOMAC / FC. No news about the new infantry model from some months ago.
Goetsch
Is this plan still going on?
Silver_Dragon
Yes, but pilots take precedence over infantry. Actually working on F/A-18C and F-16C Quote Human Animations Starting with new AH-64D pilots in 2022, this work will continue into 2023 to include new infantry and more pilots with more life-like models and animations. Priority pilot models first include the F/A-18C and F-16C pilots. Deck Crew and Ground Crew Starting with the Supercarrier deck crew, we continued to develop this feature in 2023. We are now continuing this effort to include startup and taxi to catapult deck crew logic and animations. Following the completion of deck crew, we then plan to use this technology to create airfield ground crew and interactions. On Fact, missing animations, as the AH-64 pilot, boarding / deboarding. The last "infantry update" was on August 2022, and none has talked about them. Quote Infantry Animations Development Progress We are pleased to inform you that work is progressing on a range of infantry animations. In the above animation, you can see a work-in-progress animation of a soldier climbing to a higher surface. The new control system will allow units to behave in a more complex and realistic manner. It also requires the solution of applied problems, such as overcoming obstacles and improved path finding. In some cases, the unit can overcome a situation just by stepping over an obstacle. There are different types of such surfaces that can be up to 1 meter in difference. The second animation option is for higher obstacles of 1.5 to 2 meters. In this case, the unit will have to climb up the obstacle and then jump off the other side. On fact, that has using the same technology on the Supercarrier Deck / Ground Crew, but "not a priority" yet? Callsign112
I think the fact that the flying part of DCS taking precedence is understandable, but even the most staunches diehard would have to agree that leaving everything else decades behind is a little bit of an immersion breaker. Take the most recent video showing the beautiful work that has gone into making dust fly around as the AH-64 takes off. Everything else that isn't moving looks real enough, but the small group of soldiers walking through the dust storm just takes away from the brilliant work on display IMO. No crouching down, or turning away to protect their eyes from the dust spray. Just keep marching through the dust cloud like cardboard stick men.... Maybe one day
Silver_Dragon
Wags already commented in the last interview that the old infantry technology and animations are obsolete and are being replaced by new ones, as well as working on paratroopers and so on. Now, there's no word on what time frame it will come in.

For now continue to be patient. thank you We are now 873 days from your post, so what happens ? How can it possibly take 2+ year to add new infantry (even with older technology/behavior) ? The upcomming Afghan map looks cool but COIN is quite a joke with today's infantry behavior/model... It's the only thing holding me from buying the map...
