Scofflaw Posted November 20, 2021 Posted November 20, 2021 I checked back a few pages, didn't see anything on this topic. When I switch fuselage lights on, it lights up the tail. When I switch wing/tail lights on, it lights up the fuselage. Is this backwards, or is my understanding of these switches the issue here? run come save me
Tholozor Posted November 21, 2021 Posted November 21, 2021 (edited) It's correct as-is. The WING/TAIL switch controls the red/green lights on the wingtips and engine intake, as well as the (already reported) missing white light at the back of the tail above the engine nozzle. The FUSELAGE switch controls the white lights that illuminate the vertical tail. This is how the panel works according to the actual flight manual. Cornflex Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 The console switches for fuselage turn on the tail lights and wing/tail position switches turn on the fuselage lights. Seems to be mixed up. 1 i9 13900K, Asus ROG Z690-E Wifi, 32GB DDR5 6400RAM, Asus RTX 4090 TUF, TM Warthog with F-16 Stick, Trackir 5, Windows 11
777coletrain Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 Hey, this is actually correct (its a confusing labeling scheme). More info can be found in this thread. 2 1
Frederf Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 The fuselage lights are mounted on the fuselage and illuminate the tail. They are named for where they're mounted, not what they light up. The red/green/white position lights are mounted on the wing, tail, and intake sides and are labeled "wing/tail". 3
Diesel_Thunder Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 (edited) The formation knob on the light panel is throwing a wrench into this. That knob position will override the switch settings. I see it full on in your screenshots. On a cold start, that knob is set by default to full on, instead of off. This was messing with me a while back, so part of my startup checks is to turn that knob to off so I can control the lights with the switches. Since the Viper does not have slime lights like the Hog, Hornet, and Tomcat for formation flight, the Viper's formation knob uses the wing, tail, and fuselage lights. MrYeti Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 The fuselage and tail spot light switches are swapped. If you switch the fuselage switch it turns the tail light on and vice versa
