I had similar issue with thermal throttling, where lowering my CPU max speed helped me achieve higher frame rates. In my case it was a laptop, with GPU and CPU sharing the same heat-sink. When the CPU went up, it heated the GPU, and caused it to go into thermal throttling. Use nvidia tools GeForce Experience or Frameview to inspect what is going on. HWMonitor can be also used to see the peak values. https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/technologies/frameview/ Both have OSDs which you can use to track what is going on, while playing... If indeed temperature is the one causing the issue, possible solution is to ensure your fans runs at maximal speed, when running DCS. Hi, no, I am not on a laptop and my CPU (EK loop) and GPU (AIO) run cool. Just tried again in 1080p with RAM at XMP 4000-14 and CPU at 54. I have no idea why, but my hardware only works at full potential when the settings are maxed out (or in VR)! 1. My "Barebone" settings: Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg 3973, 60000, 62, 87, 66.217 2. DCS Low preset: Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg 4639, 60000, 62, 109, 77.317 3. DCS High Preset: Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg 5961, 60000, 90, 108, 99.350 12900KF@5.4, 32GB DDR4@4000cl14g1, 4090, M.2, W10 Pro, Warthog HOTAS, ButtKicker, Reverb G2/OpenXR

The results are shocking: My conclusions: 1. Pancake guys with good CPU/GPU should stay on DDR3 or downclock DDR4. 2. OB 2.7.8 benefits from downclocking more than 2.7.6, but they both do. 3. VR guys benefit from DDR4, but buying ultra fast kits does not matter. 4. The better the rig the higher was the FPS loss going from 2.7.6 to 2.7.8. So, since this post has been marked as "Solution,"... any plans to help out the 2D-Pancaker's who have DDR4 RAM? Asking for a friend. i7 8700K @ Stock - Win11 64 - 64gb RAM - RTX 3080 12gb OC

Check NVIDIA Control Panel -> Manage 3D settings -> preferred graphics processor, and below in the list search for: "Power management mode" You will get there several options, that indicate that the GPU can be throttled down. E.g. NVIDIA driver controlled or adaptive. Try with "Prefer high performance" this one should cause it to give you full power. Also: check Game Mode Settings (this is windows): - check if game mode is on - check graphics settings and see if Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling is on/off. BTW: I do not think the solution is to underclock. Something is still fishy there.

The culprit is still to be found, but you shouldn‘t be worried. 1 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"
