In realtà a quelle coordinate in modalità satellite si vedono parecchi C-130 parcheggiati.... potrebbe anche essere un indizio per un modulo per questo aereo.

In effetti uboats, membro di Deka Ironwork Simulations, sostiene che l'indizio riguardi i mezzi parcheggiati e non la mappa: se un partner ufficiale ED si sbilancia pubblicamente in questa maniera è probabile che abbia informazioni attendibili in quel senso.

Nel caso fosse un mezzo è possibile che sia il C-130 Hercules: in un'intervista di qualche tempo fa ED fece un generico riferimento ad un possibile transport/cargo plane.

La speculazione che possa trattarsi proprio un Hercules è legata ad una nota MOD di ottima fattura che potrebbe diventare un modulo ufficiale.

In ogni caso, in base ad informazioni future più specifiche, il titolo del thread verrà modificato di conseguenza.

Stavo riflettendo sullo scenario dell'Afghanistan e ho pensato, non sarebbe meglio spostarsi leggermente verso est così da avere anche il confine indo-pakistano?

Il conflitto tra i due paesi è da ormai diverso tempo acceso e ci sono anche diversi moduli che calzerebbero bene come il Mig-21, Mig-19, F-16 e il cino-pakistano JF-17, mancherebbe solo un 104 e saremmo a posto per quel teatro, se a questo consideri che nella stessa mappa puoi avere la guerra in Afghanistan beh, non sarebbe male.

E' possibile che lo facciano, prendendo per buono che le coordinate indichino che effettivamente è lo scenario Afghanistan ad essere in arrivo (e non il C-130 o che altro che magari nessuno ha notato) non dicono nulla su quanto sarà estesa la mappa e quali zone comprenderà.

Sono d'accordo. Aggiungerei anche Mig 29,Mirage 2000 per la IAF( con un po' di fantasia anche il Su27 che fa la parte delSU30) e l' F86 per la PAF. Uno scenario del genere permetterebbe di replicare le varie guerre Indo-pakistane. L'Afghanistan mi sembra limitato al CAS/COIN...

DCS: Afghanistan

First hinted at a year ago, we are happy to confirm that an Afghanistan map is coming to DCS. A flash point spanning thousands of years, Afghanistan served as the backdrop to two of the largest conflicts in living memory. More focused on Counterinsurgency (COIN) warfare than large force-on-force battles, the Afghanistan map will bring a new mode of warfare to DCS battles and our most popular aircraft like the AH-64D, Mi-24P, A-10C, Su-25, F-16C, F/A-18C, will be great mission choices.

Afghanistan Development Report

The development of the DCS: Afghanistan Map is progressing on schedule with significant milestones achieved. We are committed to delivering a highly immersive and authentic representation of Afghanistan for virtual pilots to explore and engage in combat operations. Continued collaboration, testing, and refinement will ensure the map’s successful completion and release to our DCS community.

Development Progress

We have made substantial progress in recreating the diverse landscape of Afghanistan. This includes the rugged mountain ranges of the Hindu Kush, the vast deserts of the Dasht-e Kavir and Dasht-e Lut, and the fertile valleys and river basins. Efforts have been dedicated to accurately portraying the unique cultural and urban features of Afghanistan. This involves recreating cities like Kandahar and Herat, with special attention to landmarks, infrastructure, and architectural styles like the blue mosque of Herat. Aerial imagery has been utilised to enhance the realism and accuracy of the map. High-resolution satellite imagery is being integrated to provide authentic terrain textures and details.

The diverse terrain and complex topography of Afghanistan has presented technical challenges due to the large mountainous ranges. Optimization efforts are ongoing to maintain performance without compromising on visual fidelity, particularly in densely populated urban areas and detailed terrain features. The map is designed to look equally as good from low to high altitude.

Future Plans

In the above screenshot, you can see the area of DCS: Afghanistan that will be available in Early Access. The airfields that will be available at launch include Kandahar, Herat, Bost, Camp Bastion, Chaghcharan, Dwyer, Farah, Maymana Zahiraddin Faryabi, Qala i Naw, Shindand, Tirinkot, and Zaranj. The focus will be on completing the detailing of terrain features, including rivers, roads, vegetation, rocks, small stones, ground clutter and geological formations to enhance immersion and realism. Extensive testing and optimization will be conducted to ensure optimal performance and compatibility with a wide range of hardware configurations. The DCS: Afghanistan map - Available on the for pre-purchase

20 years of the War on Terror and the Soviet operations of the 1980s place Afghanistan as one of the most important combat theatres of the past half century. Few war zones have ever seen more A-10C, AH-64D, F-16C, F/A-18C, CH-47F, Mi-24P, Mi-8MTV2, and Su-25 sorties.

The entire map of Afghanistan and small portions of neighbouring countries will be available, showcasing our latest map technologies at a superb level of detail and fidelity.

Southwest Afghanistan Available in the latest DCS version

Afghanistan, often called the “crossroads of Asia” is a landlocked country located at the intersection of Central and South Asia. It shares borders with Pakistan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and China.

Historical Significance
In the 19th century, Afghanistan became a buffer state in “The Great Game” between the British Empire and Tsarist Russia, both of whom sought control over Central Asia.

Later, the Soviet-Afghan War (1979-1989) highlighted the strategic importance of Afghanistan in the Cold War geopolitics. The rugged terrain also played a pivotal role in the resistance mounted by Mujahideen fighters against the Soviet forces.

Post September 2001, Afghanistan became a central theatre in the Global War on Terrorism, leading to a prolonged conflict involving the United States and NATO forces, who aimed at dismantling terrorist groups whilst stabilising the region.

Operational Challenges
Operating in DCS: Afghanistan presents unique challenges due to geography, climate and socio-political dynamics. The combination of high altitude environments and limited infrastructure requires adaptive strategies from foreign military forces and highlights the importance of local knowledge and alliances.

Afghanistan Development Report

Work continues on both the Afghanistan Southwest region and the entire Afghanistan map. The ground mesh resolution across Afghanistan has been improved along with optimisation and bug fixes across the Southwest. The road network has been enhanced, especially the mountain roads. Additionally, ground geometry artefacts have been corrected.

Object model inaccuracies have been fixed and unique airfield objects have been added to diversify the scenery. We are also pleased to inform you that the Normal Map textures across the entire Afghanistan map have been refined for improved low-altitude visuals.

Our team is mainly focused on finalising the East region of the Afghanistan map. Work on the airfields of Bagram, Bamiyan, Gardez, Ghazni, Jalalabad, Kabul, Khost, Sharana, and Urgun is going well and the final stages of creating unique scenes for these airfields and their operational logic within the DCS Core is underway.

We have achieved significant progress on new roads, rivers, and lakes, as well as unique object models for the capital city of Kabul. We look forward to your feedback.
