A-10C Bomb Fall Line in CCIP (seems) impossible to center in HUD

Howdy all....... I've been badgered by this issue for some time...... the Bomb Fall Line is always way off centerline of HUD, even with perfectly level wings, and always worst as I near the marked target. I waste a lot of time trying to chase that line; should I not be trying to drive the object at bottom of HUD (refueling port?) onto the line? To top it off, the line will skew to 10-30 degrees off vertical.

This is all occurring in CCIP, although in CCRP it also seems the line insists on staying away from center. This could be slop in the rudder axis of my Extreme 3D flight stick, but the heading control in other aircraft works fine.

There used to be a bug where the CCIP Bomb Fall Line was indeed way off, like you described. But that was fixed something like half a year ago, if not longer.

It seems we'll need a short track (after a mission, quit the mission, then hit "Save Track" and upload that file here), or a video, or at least a screenshot.

Hard to tell, but it sounds like you might be dealing with wind correction from the LASTE.  In a crosswind, a correctly placed fall line or CCRP ASL will not be in the middle.  It will be close to the TVV, but not exactly on it either.

I know it used to be completly out to lunch and point off to the 3/9 o'clock position, but I think that's fixed. At least I haven't seen it in a while. If the line is angled and not straight up and down its most likely because of winds. Place the target on the bomb fall line and the pipper will track up along that line to the target. pickle once the pipper gets to the base of the target and you should be good to go.

If you have the steerpoint page called up on the CDU (FUNC then 9 on the UFCP) you can look at the winds in the bottom right of the screen to get an idea of what direction they are blowing from. Try rolling in into or out of the winds and the bomb fall line should be more vertical in the HUD.

Salsa,

For CCRP, are you making sure that the target you intend to bomb is also the SPI?   I do that occasionally where the TGP is on the target I want to bomb, but the SPI is on a Mark or Steering Point (some where else).  The fall line is calculated to the SPI.  Check by making the sure that the TGP is SOI then TMS Fwd Long to make sure the TGP is SPI.

Posting a short mission track would help out allot.

Thanks to every one of you for the generous effort...... didn't see a notification for the replies.

WIND was the culprit...... all the ideas enormously helpful!!!!

Were it possible, I'd have marked each as solution. A little clumsy still with the forum etiquette.
