Glide Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 DCS is VRAM hungry. Get as much VRAM as you can afford. The 3080Ti is an excellent choice that is very future proof right now.

VR , 4k , or high refresh-rate 1440p weigh towards gpu , 1080p not so much . Your 2060 will do just fine at 1080p 60hz . Not gonna address the cpu side as the 12700k is an excellent choice . Should you decide to upgrade gpu , be aware that in Sept or so , 4000 series will launch . 9700k @ stock , Aorus Pro Z390 wifi , 32gb 3200 mhz CL16 , 1tb EVO 970 , MSI RX 6800XT Gaming X TRIO , Seasonic Prime 850w Gold , Coolermaster H500m , Noctua NH-D15S , CH Pro throttle and T50CM2/WarBrD base on Foxxmounts , CH pedals , Reverb G2v2

Now that X370 boards are able to accept Zen 3 chips, I’m in a bit of a dilemma whether to upgrade to the 5800X3D and wait another year+ for a new system, or just pop in a 5900X (which are on great sales right now) and jump to AM5 this fall… Ryzen 7 5800X3D / Asus Crosshair VI Hero X370 / Corsair H110i / Sapphire Nitro+ 6800XT / 32Gb G.Skill TridentZ 3200 / Samsung 980 Pro M.2 / Virpil Warbrd base + VFX and TM grips / Virpil CM3 Throttle / Saitek Pro Combat pedals / Reverb G2
blkspade Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 Linus included MSFS performance with his 5800X3D benches. Might have some relevance here. http://104thphoenix.com/
Bossco82 Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 It really does depend on the resolution you plan on using. If its 1440p, then your ok with something like a AMD 5600x/ Intel 12600k 32gb DDR4 and a Nvidia 3070/AMD 6800. Thats for pretty much maximum settings and a solid 60fps. However if its ultrawide 1440p or 4k. You need to dig deeper, the CPU can stay the same, you might want to consider the AMD 5800x or Intel 12700k, DCS cant use all those cores though. However, you need a Nvidia 3080 or better. I dont know what kind of memory bus AMD next gen GPU's will use. I do know that at 4k DCS will push my now watercooled 3090 pretty hard! If I let it. It will also use upto 12-15gb of Vram depending on the mission. 1
BitMaster Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Hey, you finally watercooled that beast Makes more sense than water-cooling the CPU these days. Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
Bossco82 Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 HI mate, Yeah after probably 10 years now I came back to custom water cooling. You dont gain much over a decent AIO for the CPU. However it pretty much solves any 30 series memory/junction temp issues. The difference is from the high 80 deg C doen to mid 60 deg C.
