BTW, not a fan of the new, sparkly FA-18 gun fire. Just seems cartoonish.

Same here It would be nice if there was a disable option.

Yep, first thing I do after a repair install.

It's crazy how much difference there is between my OB and stable installs. My OB must be really jacked up.

Well, I came into here, and I manage to install OpenXR and n OpenXR toolkit and everything is good to go as far as I can see. No problems, no funny buggs, nothing weird, I just fallow the instructions and success!!, so a big thanks for the comunity and for nikoel.

Besides, I have a question, now, my customized render scale is at 100% but, do you guys ask for more render scale? have any impact on your performance. I have a 3070, Ryzen 5 3600X, 32GB of RAM and M.2 1T. Which value you recomend for me?

Thanks in advace.

You've not mentioned which headset you're using but assuming a G2...

With the 3070 you're going to need to wind it back a little ideally, leave the render scale as default and use the in-game openxr toolkit menu to override it (you get more granular control of the resolution this way and per app settings).

Try running it around 2800-2900 wide to start with (G2@100% is 3160 wide), you should get back a few frames for minimal image clarity loss.

G2 user here, have you guys found that your ipd scale no longer displays when you move the slider on the headset? I didn’t realise it was a SVR thing, I’ve no idea what ipd I have set now, yikes!

It's displayed within the openxr toolkit menu somewhere (can't off hand recall where though - might be under world scale?), I also think it's shown on the system tab of the openxr tools desktop app.

That's a good thing, though. It always gave me huge stutters wherever my fingers even went close to that slider. Heck, Sometimes a sudden head movement gave me the same! So the fact it's not shown anymore is a good thing. It doesn't dip performance!

I never noticed a performance dip, but then I usually set it while I was in the menus.

Not long back I went to the optician to find out my ipd so I could set it correctly, I was a bit miffed to discover I couldn’t set after installing OpenXR (I’d moved the slider with my thumb as I dusted off my G2).

But all is well now. 🤓

The ipd adjustment has never seemed to make any significant difference to me, I can see the lenses moving and the image shifts with them but I can use it for ages with it being in the wrong place and never really notice!

Yup, I forgot that little detail. I got the G2.🙂

openxr toolkit menu to override it

I will try today, but, the default key for the toolkit is Ctrl+F2 right? cos I believe is not working since I change the keys for navigate across the toolkit.

I was getting “uncomfortable eyes” before I set it properly. Though it turned out I’d had it set completely wrong on my original Rift and Rift S with no I’ll effect.

It may be because of the smaller sweet spot in the G2 that it being not properly set effected me more. That or my eyes are just more knackered than they were a few years ago.

Having said that, of late 60Hz flicker makes my eyes really tired at the moment, might need to check the different ipd settings and see if it helps. Generally running 90hz at the moment is more comfortable though.

edit: I also haven't had my ipd measured other than with a mirror and steel rule at about 63mm. I'm 43 now and probably about the age I should be trying to look after my eyes!

edit: just tried resetting the headset calibration and it's now a lot better on 60Hz, when I switched to open composite global (from the old OC_ACC) the calibration routine ran again because it now recognises the G2 as a quest2.  Last time it ran I just made eyes symetrical with right but on revisiting it that was quite clearly off a touch, now reset it to it's default calibration and run an hour of foothold causcasus without an issue 🙂

Run "OpenXR Toolkit Companion app" and change them to whatever you need. I've got them on Ctrl+Alt+Numpad keys. The "down" shortcut opens the menu. 😉

Exactly that configuration is the one I choose. 😃

Yep... even after 3 times running DCS repair/remove extra file found.

I'm also seeing the same problems. Have been running opencomposite on a 3090 at buttery smooth consistency up until installing the last update... now I'm living in a jagged stuttery hell. I've tried all the usual removals and resets with no success.

I'm currently rolling back to the previous OB to verify but it seems fishy.

Having tried the previous version I still have the same issues. Wondering if this is related to something in the most recent OpenComposite update....

yeah I had a try at disabling OpenXR toolkit at first, then resetting to defaults in safe mode. Neither seem to have worked. I recall blindly running the OpenComposite updater in the last week and possibly had not checked since then, now I'm wondering if this has introduced a problem

So for some as yet to be explained reason. I stripped the NVIDIA driver from my machine with DDU in Safe mode and reinstalled...... instant fix

I've been meaning to follow up.

A few days prior, I had been playing around with iUFC (I think it's called). App that let's you use an iPad as UFC...

It dawned on me that beside updating DCS and OC, I had imported a lua file for that to work... After removing those changes, my OpenBeta is working as before.

same driver. I've had this happen in the past, though I've never quite pinpointed the catalyst. Oddly enough I had already done a clean install of the same driver but that had no effect. DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) is a very useful utility for these occasions, however it is a shame such a thing needs to exist.
