Bakerino Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 Hey everyone, been practicing cold starts all night, and I keep having a consistency issue in uncaging the standby attitude indicator. Sometimes, holding LMB and scrolling uncages it, and other times, it moves a whopping like 2mm in either direction, refusing to uncage properly. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or is this a glitch?
Devrim Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 YES! Same here. Everytime I'm struggling with the knob to uncage the SAI. Pulling the knob is LMB but I can release it via RMB, and then LMB works properly to centering SAI. You're not alone. Eldur Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 I tried and failed as well, but then I just thought: Why bother? SAIs in DCS are AFU after like 3 minutes of straight flight anyway. This has a history dating back down to 2008...

Nealius Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 I've been able to uncage it with LMB and move the mouse right. Not using the scroll wheel.
Solution Kifter1983 Posted March 19, 2022 Solution Posted March 19, 2022 It's the right mouse button to uncage. Essentially the left mouse button just pulls the cage/uncage/horizon adjustment dial out, the right mouse button will turn it but not pull it in or out. To uncage just right mouse click and hold then drag the mouse down. To re-cage is a bit more tricky as you need to both pull the dial out and rotate it to lock it. To do that left click and hold then right click and hold, then drag the mouse up. It's important to left click hold, then right click hold and not just click both at the same time because if the simulation thinks you right clicked first, the left click doesn't do anything. Once the dial has rotated to a stop you can let go of the mouse buttons and the instrument will remain caged. 2
Bakerino Posted March 19, 2022 Author Posted March 19, 2022 Thanks for the input everyone, the RMB is the solution I was looking for. Glad to finally have that resolved. Leaves more time for warheads on foreheads!
Razor18 Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 I think I saw separate key commands for SAI among the commands (guess I searched for "cage" to find it?). +1 thanks for the mouse trick tough
