Ideally, there would be a UI with a simple U/D/L/R/S interface available, with discrete commands available to those that want them. A workaround for now could be that you could use a modifier. One layer for Flying stuff. Another layer for Hover stuff. It would be nice to have the option for something like George in addition to what we have now. Why the KW-way is good is that using Voice Attack I can very easily implement voice commands, where I'm essentially speaking to the AI. I use only one button for that - the intercom PTT. For me I find its more immersive. In addition to the Barundus AI UI and its associated keys, PC also included a metric s#!t-ton of keybinds of what the AI should do. I just used those to create voice commands into my VAICOM VA profile. Tbh without voice commands (VA+Vaicom specifically) I probably wouldn't find the F-14 enjoyable. But because I don't have to navigate menus, its great. Now that I think about it, its the reason why I don't fly the apache. I don't like dealing with AI menus. And the KW made it very easy for me. As they have options for both those who like AI menus and those who don't. Edited June 13, 2024 by adirtynurse 1
Antix70 Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 Controlling George the Pilot is very difficult with Voice Attack, since you have to hold for a duration to make George turn, climb, etc. Left-stick to change to modes only works if you don't mess with it, confusing where VA thinks which menu it's pulled up. Solvable if ED would give is a keybind for H-B, another for FLT, another for CMBT, etc... but they never did. But now there's a perfect example for ED to follow... Polychop ABSOLUTELY got it right with bindings for specific altitudes, headings, and speeds, numerous other settings. 4
Rhinozherous Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 I hope ED is at least considering reworking the interface to George. As already stated, Polychop did a very nice job creating an intuitive interface. But I would be more than happy if we get all George commands as bindable keys. 1 i7-14700KF 5.6GHz Water Cooled /// ZOTAC RTX 4070 TI Super 16GB /// 32GB RAM DDR5 /// Win11 /// SSDs only DCS - XP12 - MSFS2020
Bri01 Posted April 8 Posted April 8 I have a feeling this wish is falling on deaf ears. It would be nice. That's why 3rd party's generally do a better job. They listen. 1
Bigity Posted April 16 Posted April 16 (edited) Also getting the Kiowa style AI control position indicators for the Apache would be really helpful and makes a lot of sense to have for single operators. Edited April 16 by Bigity 1
