It is good idea to have additional HDD or just partition for such experiments. It is easier to install second OS and make a test than reinstall everything just for that test.

I also have runtime error. The first time it occured when I changed the original soundtracks in the sounds/samples/radiomayak directory. I had to try several times how many tracks can I use regarding their format, size, length without crashing the game. Finally I was able to run the game with 16 own tracks (that's the maximum, at least for me). But unfortunately I discovered this works only about 1 hour after mission start and then I got the same runtime error.

Does anyone know what is the solution for this? ( I know, replace the original tracks :) ,but I really want to use my own ones )

So I would appreciate any handy idea. Thanks in advance.

Same problem here.

I thought this was related to Vista, but I have the same problem with XP (clean installation).

Since I lost an activation as this first occured under XP, though I didn't change any hardware and the hardware-code in the registry is 100% identical, I'm pretty sure it is related to some bug with starforce.

I also noticed that the game runs a lot slower, before this error is going to occur at the end of the mission. And it happens 90% of the time with XP, now. Reinstalling didn't fix the problem and as the other posters reported before, there is no option to update SF-drivers in the protect.exe GUI.

This is the first and only bad experience I ever had with SF, but if I am going to lose more registrations due to this bug, I most surely won't buy the game again (or later releases distributed with this copy protection). :noexpression:

Hi, I have DCS after so much waiting but when I start it: Microsoft C++ Runtime Library, Runtime error ! I went through many forums to see that there are no real solutions for this problem. Is it the end of the adventure before it even started? Please SOS

Thanks for trying to help me!

Tried both catalysts and even older ones without succes.

For now I:

Re-installed 3 times

Removed codec packs like told above.

Made tons of space on hard drive, cleaned it, even registry.

No luck.

Any other things to try?

Is there any chances for a future patch that could solve this problem ?

I'm scared.

Thanks again for support.

ModName protect.dll

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information

Mainboard ASUS A7N8X-XE (Socket 462)

Prozessor AthlonXP 2600+

Arbeitsspeicher 1536 MB (DDR-1 Taktung 333Mhz.)

Grafikkarte Sapphire HD 3850 (AGP-Variante mit DDR-3 Speicher)

Logitech MX 518 (USB(optische Maus))

Saitek CYBORG 3D Flugsteuerknьppel (USB)

Translation:

I get the same bug in DCS Black Shark (GermanVersion).

I am using WindowsXP with Service Pack3.

So the RUNTIME BUG does not only occur under VISTA, but also using WindowsXP Prof. 32 Bit.

Like all users above I have also tried un- and reinstalling the Programm.

Somehow the DCS.exe has issues with protect.dll or vice versa!

I always get the following error message:

ModName protect.dll

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information

I deactivated all other programs, including antivirus, but the program always crashes during the data loading process, so that I cannot even see the virtual landscape.

System specs:

Mainboard ASUS A7N8X-XE (Socket 462)

Processor AthlonXP 2600+

RAM 1536 MB (DDR-1 333Mhz.)

Videocard Sapphire HD 3850 (AGP-Variant with DDR-3 memory)

Logitech MX 518 (USB/optical mouse))

Saitek CYBORG 3D joystick (USB)

AC 97 Sound onboard

PCI Soundcard AUREAL with gameport!

MS Sidewinder FF WHEEL (connected to the gameport)!

OS WindowsXP Prof. incl. Service Pack 3

Videocard drivers are the latest from Sapphire, and the latest AGP-patch for WinXP 32 is installed as well.

I don't know what to try anymore, I hope support will fix the problem in the first patch. I didn't wait for the release of the German version just to find out that this bug has been known for a long time and hasn't been fixed yet.

I have the same problem here. And in my case, it has consequences. Multiplayer tracks are not saved correctly, sometimes they are not saved at all. Sometimes even mission outcome is not presented in the "debrief".

Using AMD64X2 5800, ATI 4850, WinXP 32 Pro Service Pack 3. Latest drivers in everything.

It's a symptom of installation placed in Program Files and launching as a regular user or with UAC on. First try running as Administrator via right-click menu. If it solves the problem with tracks then I'm right.

Does anyone if there might be a conflict with protect.dll from something like insufficient access priviliges in the user account, installation from another user than the one running the program and so on? I would assume that the dll is part of the anti-piracy scheme.

i had same issue iam on windows xp service pack 3 "runtime visual++C library error"

the only fix i found was to remove the Latest modman, anything that seems to dip its fingers with the DCS files seemed to have a major impact on DCS loading properly,

now my DCS is running super, iam just scared to death of any mods :pilotfly:

I have just bought this game and have now reinstalled 4 times with the same problem.

Have the up to date starforce

Running a 2.5 core due, with 1 gig nvidia, windows vista basic.

I have not seen any real answers or any cures to this problem.:helpsmilie:

Frontend gui is fine, mission editor is fine, try to fly, the point of the game, and this error of runtime terminated in an unusual manner comes up.

Could we get some kind of direction to look please?

Did you guys try to run without Fullscreen? Try 1024x768. If it works, leave Fullscreen off, but put the resolution to your LCD's native resolution.

This crash does not seem related to the protect.dll problem, or maybe you have some more data that we dont know about yet? (I cant see that from the data you have provided here) :)

If it's a different variant of problem, see if you can create your own thread.

See what you can provide of information - there's a bunch of good hints in these threads:

We all need to do a little bit of work to help you, but if you have data that can help us get there faster, that will be better for all of us :)

Maybe you have some data in the Event Log, Applications/System? Or the temp folder of Ka-50?

Looks like there's a problem with one of the controls you use with the game. Are you using a Saitek g15 keyboard, microsoft sidewinder mouse, or saitek x52 PRO HOTAS stick?

EtherealN,

i am using:

-Saitek ST290pro (joystick)

-Microsoft keyboard (natural ergonomic 4000)

Can 1 of these cause any problems?

There is a known problem with the Microsoft Sidewinder Mouse, and I am not entirely sure there is a current fix for that problem. (Patch 1.0.1 will hopefully fix it, but I am not certain.)

Do you have any other mouse available that you can use to test if it works when not using the Sidewinder?

EDIT:

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=34598&highlight=Microsoft+Sidewinder+Mouse&page=2

The problem resides in some related Microsoft code, which bars ED from fixing it on their own. ED is in contact with Microsoft to find a solution, though.
