For DCS I think the 'normal' 16:9 ratio is best, since widescreens dont give you enough vertical visibility. There are several widescreen offerings like the LG 38,5 3840:1600 monitors, that are interesting. But Id prefer simple 4k.

I think DCS VR has gone backwards . Especial in WWII cant even tell what's ahead of me . Awful

If it were only as simple as ditching StreamVR and playing with DCS settings to get good VR performance.

For me it took the following...

1) Download "Skyspaces" and set the Windows Mixed Reality "Home Scene" to "Empty Room" (2 walls and a floor and nothing more), then go into Windows Mixed Reality Portal settings Headset Display and change the level of detail to LOW, and set the resolution to LOW. This will only affect the Home Scene, and nothing else. Ditching SteamVR frees up a bunch of VRAM, changing to the empty room frees up like 4g of VRAM!
2) Go into the Nvidia 3D settings, change the tab from Global Settings to Program Settings and change a bunch of the settings for application controlled, 2x antialiasing, etc
3) Now in DCS I can run high texture, medium water, medium clouds, all 3 shadow options off, msaa at 2X, 8X anisotropic, etc.

After all of that, I finally get 45 solid, and perfectly fluid video in Syria, 70-80 fps in Caucasus, etc.

A lot of work, but I'll never play flat screen again.

No problem.

They don't allow me to hide too long...

My wife and kids know what this sim is to me. So, when I'm just sitting in the cockpit and experimenting it is ok to bug me, but when I'm on a mission - I'm untouchable. But just in case - I hang this sign on a door handle to my office )

😀

The "sever" penalties seem a shade harsh though!
