Hi Everyone,

So as my sim gets bigger my SSD space is getting less and less. I only have  500g ssd which includes my operating system.

I have two questions please.

1) Can you have two SSD on your motherboard?

2) If so, can I just transfer my whole DCS and contents from one SSD to another i.e. drag and drop or cut and paste, how easy is it to do and what complications can arise from doing so. Or do I have to do an uninstall/reinstall ?

Thanks for any idea's.

Cheers.

Aussie Pilot.

If I may add to this question, so will he have to transfer both DCS folders? The main one in programs file and also the saved games DCS folder.

thanks and great question.

Install folder is mandatory. Saved games/dcs is optional.

Guys, ehhh.  not all right what has been said.

Aussie Pilot wants to ADD a 2nd drive and ONLY move DCS there. In that case, you DON'T have to touch, copy, move or edit ANYTHING in the Saved Games foider. Where would you want to copy it to may I ask ?  "D" drive ??  It stays where it is unless Aussie Pilot wants a new fresh DCS with default settings and no bindings at all and EVEN THEN, DCS would regenerate a new DCS folder at the exact same spot.

To fix the broken links: Forget them, download and install SkateZilla's excellent DCS-Updater tool and use that to start-update-clean-repair-MANAGE DCS, just forget the Start Menue thing.

Thanks guys for all this info, I was going to ask about the Saved games folder but you all beat me to it. Thanks you BitMaster for covering that.

I hope to pick up the new 1TB SSD tomorrow, same type just 1TB instead of 500gb. I have another M.2 slot available as well. Once installed and formatted, or whatever it needs to do, I will copy and paste my DCS from my main SSD to the new SSD and create a new short cut to start it. ( I know how to do that 🙂 ) Once I start it from the new drive and it all goes well I will delete DCS off my main SSD and just keep that for my OS.

All my other sims are on a 2TB normal hard drive. Now at least I'll have a dedicated SSD for DCS only, damn game is getting to big.

Thanks again.

Hi guys, just an update. New SSD installed and sim copied and pasted. Created new short cut and the game works fine. Deleted old game off the old drive and it's all working fine.

Point to remember though... I didn't realise my two M.2 SSD slots were actually different. I originally bought a second SATA SSD because my current one was an SATA SSD. Turns out slot one supports SATA and PCIe, but slot two only supported PCIe SSD's. Luckily I was able to return the drive and swap it. Happy ending.

Also, started the game, got in flight and took some screen shots which showed up in the current saved games folder, no changes needed.

Thank you all for your help.

For others doing similar but different. 3 yrs ago w/ my old PC I replaced the old standard HD w/ a new SSD. I got an app and an SSD housing that had a usb plug on the end. Install the app, plug the SSD/housing into a usb port and hit go. It took a while but I ended up w/ a SSD that had cloned the old drive completely. Shut off the PC, pull the old drive, plug in the new SSD, and fire up the PC. I was absolutely amazed that there was no detectible difference at all old drive to new drive. Except things were a LOT faster.
