JSF_Aggie Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 (edited) I have a new computer, a Reverb V2, and new to VR. I hoping y'all could look over what I've done, and if my performance is what you would expect. Please call out anything I've done wrong or should still do. Appreciate your time. New Alienware with Win 11. DCS OpenBeta, Thrustmaster, McAfee, Mixed Reality Portal and OpenXR is all I've installed. No DCS mods yet. i9 12900KF, nVidia 3090, 64GB DDR5 @4400 mhz. I've setup OpenXR per nikoel's OpenXR Guide thread. Also installed the OpenXR Toolkit. I turned GPU Scheduling and Game Mode OFF Latest nVidia driver, with the following CP changes: MFAA: ON, Power management: Max Perf, Texture filtering Neg LOD bias: Clamp, Texture filtering Quality: High quality, VR pre-rendered frames: 3 VR variable rate super samping: OFF Everything else, left as default. Running the Nellis, Hornet Free Flight mission, I stay at 90 FPS, per the DCS FPS display, with Motion Reprojection OFF, but looking at the terrain at my 9 or 3 o'clock, it has an annoying amount of stutter. If I turn Motion Reprojection ON in OpenXR Tools and the OpenXR Toolkit, I stay at 45 FPS, but the terrain rolls by smoothly. Motion Reprojection does cause some side effects to my cockpit displays, mainly notice it on my AA radar page. I prefer it ON by far. Syria, Hornet Free Flight mission, I stay at 30 FPS, but no stutter. My DCS Settings: Edited August 26, 2022 by JSF_Aggie
AlpineGTA Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 I would start by turning Textures to Medium and Terrain Textures to low. You don't notice much difference from the air and these settings seem to have a large impact on fps. i5-11600K CPU, 64GB DDR4 RAM, XFX Speedster MERC319 AMD Radeon 6900 XT, Oculus Quest 2, HP Reverb G2
WipeUout Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 Another FPS killer is Anisotropic Filtering. 16x vs Off will give you 8-10 FPS more, not to mention it does nothing to improve quality! At least in a pimax. Cloud at ultra will not make any visual difference compared to low but will also cost many FPS if you have lots of clouds. 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 9800X3D, RTX 4090, 96GB DDR 5, MSI Tomahawk 870E, Crucial 2TB x 2, TM WARTHOG COMBO + PENDULAR RUDDER PEDALS, THE AMAZING PIMAX 8K X, Sony 5.1 Spks+SubW | DCS, A-10C_II, AH-64D, F-14/15E/16/18, F-86F, AV-8B, M-2000C, SA342, Huey, Spitfire, FC3.
Burt Posted August 27, 2022 Posted August 27, 2022 Don’t be afraid to slide all this to the right with that AW-3090. With OXR and Motion Repo running 30-45 fps is no prob. My R11/3090 does it very well, I don’t watch the numbers anymore. Everything is smooth and the clarity is the best it’s gonna get. I honestly don’t think I can get it any better so I just fly ! 1 ALIENWARE R11 - I9 10900KF @ 5.1 GHz - M.2 NVMe 2TB - RTX3090 - XFURY 64GB -3400 MHz RAM Monitor AW3420DW @ 120Hz - Virpil CM3 Throttle - TM TPR Rudder pedals - Virpil CM2 w/TM Hornet Stick Center - Monstertech Deck Mounts RealSimulator FSSB-R3 Lightning Base w/ F16SRGRH SideStick - VR user / Varjo Aero - Big Thx to mbucchia Start Date April 2020

Ala12Rv-Tundra Posted August 27, 2022 Posted August 27, 2022 The combo Visib Range Ultra, MSAA 2x and Clouds Ultra might be pushing too much 11 hours ago, WipeUout said: Another FPS killer is Anisotropic Filtering. 16x vs Off will give you 8-10 FPS more, not to mention it does nothing to improve quality! Anisotropic to16x makes the image much better on my case (RTX 2080Ti + RiftS) and doesn´t mean a fps hit, how weird. 1 i5 8400 | 32 Gb RAM | RTX 2080Ti | Virpil Mongoose T-50 base w/ Warthog & Hornet sticks | Warthog throttle | Cougar throttle USB | Orion 2 throttle base w/ Viper & Hornet grips| VKB T-Rudder Mk IV | Oculus Rift S | Buddy-Fox A-10 UFC | 2x TM MFDs & 1x WW DDI | 2x Bass shakers | SIMple SIMpit chair | WW TakeOff panel | Andre JetSeat | WW Hornet UFC | WW Viper ICP FC3 - Warthog - F-5E - Harrier - NTTR - Hornet - Tomcat - Huey - Viper - C-101 - PG - Hip - SuperCarrier - Syria - Warthog II - Hind - South Atlantic - Sinai - Strike Eagle - Phantom - Mirage F1 - Afghanistan - Irak

Depends on hardware but also on the test scenario. I use the attached track file along with fpsVR and here are my results: Aniso filter OFF : 58.3 FPS Aniso filter 8 x : 52.5 FPS Aniso filter 16 x : 49.5 FPS Image quality is very subjective but on my setup, I don't see any noticeable improvement with Anisotropic filtering on. Only the FPS drop! performance track 277.trk 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 9800X3D, RTX 4090, 96GB DDR 5, MSI Tomahawk 870E, Crucial 2TB x 2, TM WARTHOG COMBO + PENDULAR RUDDER PEDALS, THE AMAZING PIMAX 8K X, Sony 5.1 Spks+SubW | DCS, A-10C_II, AH-64D, F-14/15E/16/18, F-86F, AV-8B, M-2000C, SA342, Huey, Spitfire, FC3.
JSF_Aggie Posted August 30, 2022 Author Posted August 30, 2022 Thanks all. I’ve been tweaking the above and looking at all the info in edmuss’s tuning thread.
