corn322 Posted August 28, 2022 Posted August 28, 2022 Same here. Clicking the number of a page, or the first/last page takes me to the top of a page. But next/prev scrolls to the top, loads the new page, then dumps me at the bottom. 1

Minor annoyance since last forum makeover ~1 year+ ago. @Flappie @BIGNEWY This happened to me last year and this below was the fix: however, this doesn't help anymore. What you see below are my current settings (today) which should direct me to the top of the post, but it doesn't. SLAVA UKRAINI MoBo - ASUS 990FX R2 Sabertooth, CPU - AMD FX 9590 @4.7Gb. No OC RAM - GSkill RipJaws DDR3 32 Gb @2133 MHZ, GPU - EVGA GeForce GTX 1660Ti 6Gb DDR5 OC'd, Core 180MHz, Memory 800MHz Game drive - Samsung 980 M.2 EVO 1Tb SSD, OS Drive - 860 EVO 500Gb SATA SSD, Win10 Pro 22H2 Controls - Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS X, Monitor - LG 32" 1920 X 1080, PSU - Prestige ATX-PR800W PSU
Flappie Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 Hi @rayrayblues. It works very well on my end. I'm using Firefox 109.0. What is your browser? Are you using any web browser extensions? ---
Livers Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 My setting is to "Take me to comments I haven't read", yet it seems to want to take me to the bottom of the next page vs the top. Firefox latest. Very annoying.
Flappie Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 (edited) Weird, I'm using the very same "Take me to comments I haven't read" forum setting (I think it is default setting). Please try this in Firefox: Click "Help". Click "Restart with add-ons disabled" (it might have a very different name depending on your system language - in French, it's called "Mode de dépannage"). Click "Restart". On restart, click "Open". Does the issue persists in this mode? Edited January 28, 2023 by Flappie ---

Flappie Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 I've just tried Edge, I didn't even log in, and it works as intended. Can you please try logging off the forum and see if you get a different behaviour. I need to understand the origin of this issue of yours. ---
AdrianL Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 In Edge, start a new "InPrivate" window and then navigate to the forums. You will not be logged in but navigate around and see if the issue happens. "InPrivate" will ensure that no cookies, local storage, extensions, etc are loaded (or stored) for the site 1

rayrayblues Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 @Flappie I wonder if it could be related to the emoji problem I'm having. Flappie Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 @Livers @-0303- Are you both having the same emoji issue? ---
-0303- Posted January 29, 2023 Author Posted January 29, 2023 (edited) Firefox 109. 1. Emoji's work as they always have, a little slow loading but they work. 2. The setting including "Take me to comments I haven't read" is obviously a different matter, a setting just for entering a thread. After entering a thread clicking NEXT or PREV should always go to the top. Arguably PREV could go to the bottom "going backwards" but I've never seen any forum work like that. 3. I tried Firefox "SAFE MODE" no extensions, private mode (logged out) and logged in. In all cases it works the same, sometimes it goes to the top, sometimes the bottom, sometimes somewhere mid page. Most of the time it goes to the bottom. 4. Clicking a page number (from already inside thread) seems to work the same, ie randomly but mostly bottom. I have a hunch. Maybe the browser goes back to the remembered scrolled status the last time it was on that specific page. Most of the time I leave a page I'm at bottom (having read/scrolled all the way down).I seem to have a better shot going to the top in threads I've never been, like discussions of some terrain I don't have. How to test that? Wiping every cookie? Flappie Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 Good lead. Someone says you need to disable 'Instant search'. https://support.mozilla.org/sq/questions/768065 ---
Livers Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 I'm in step with @-0303- 100%, meaning the described behavior is what I see. I wouldn't know if I have an emoji problem, I try to ignore graphic fluff to a large extent. My own hunch is that it rears its ugly head when there are a large amount of quotes and/or graphics on the incoming page. @Flappie, that link for 'instant search' is ancient. Is that still a thing in a current browser?

Someone says you need to disable 'Instant search'. https://support.mozilla.org/sq/questions/768065 'Instant search' doesn't seem to be a thing currently. Searching "about:config" it turns up the same result as something nonsensical like "ffffffffff". It had to be "added" and then I set it true and false with no difference. Hit the garbage can symbol to remove it again. Testing Edge and Chrome very quickly and cursory (not logged in) both seem to work as they "should", i.e. always going to the top clicking PREV or NEXT. How many how this problem not using Firefox except Rayrayblues? Flappie Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 i have an idea: what happens if you browse the Invision Community forum itself? Same behaviour or different? ---
-0303- Posted January 31, 2023 Author Posted January 31, 2023 There's very very few multipage threads to test at invision . It goes to the top all the time. Flappie Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 (edited) The link I sent is multipage. OK, so it works out there but not here? It might be some old ED forum cookie to delete, then? Edited January 31, 2023 by Flappie ---

No, it was page 1 of 989 pages of threads, 99% of which have single digit replies. This had 181 replies on 6 pages. NEXT or PREV goes to top always.
