I'm occassionally losing my controls temporarily while flying (MP for sure, not sure SP).   I know it can seem like the controls aren't responding when screwing up the transition to hover, however,... 3rd time tonight I watched... there's NO Stick/Cyclic/Rudder movement (visually) whatsoever as I fight these controls.  And it's not always when slow/transitioning.  Once tonight I was flying a low/slow small orbit when the loss happened.  It was trimmed just right and I flew for maybe 30sec like that, then got controls back.

Is this possibly a lag related issue?  Never ever USED to happen, but I just started flying the UH-1 again recently.

It cannot be a server-induced lag related issue, no.

Please reproduce the problem one more time then attach the resulting log file here (Saved Games/DCS.../logs/dcs.log).

This ought to do it.  Just happened

Thank you. I thought I would see devices being disconnected but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

But just in case: try disabling Hot plug detection in the Controls Options of DCS.

3 times in this one... I think (at least 2)

Ok, will do

Hi.

Did you checked out the trim options, that you  don't have the "do nothing untill return to center" option?

Just an idea...

Where's that option?

He means the central position trim option. Unless they introduced some bug, this should not affect the collective and torque pedals, as they are not "trimmable" in the Huey. But it's worth a shot to test.

Edit: Have the controls indicator displayed to check for movements. I also highly recommend using Virpil's joystick tester, it's free, and see if they still move while they don't in DCS.

That was my point...

I disabled the Hot Plug thing... still happened again, but only once this time.

Other thing come to mind

Check your usb wires are ok, no intermitent disconnetion; I suggest  opening the Wind config and play with the inputs and see if there is any disconnection.

If they are on a USB hub, change it to test  it, or even better, change to a 2.0 powered USB hub.

Ya, this occurred to me last ni... this morning.  Just now cycled the plug.  We'll see.  I bet this is it.  It's on a good powered hub but it's been there about 3yrs... at least.  Was gonna get a new one anyway.  Thanks

Well, so far it seems as though it's Rudder Pedals related.  I flew around a bit Offline and I THINK it happened only once.  Then just a few minutes ago I was on Enigma's server and everything seemed ok for about an 1/2 an hour.  Then, just flying along (trimmed out thankfully) I had nothing.  Wiggled the rudders and controls came back.  This happened a couple times.  Then the last time as landing, again... this time cycling the rudders back and forth SEEMED to work, but took longer than before.  Just friggin ridiculously typical impossible to chase down computer related BS at this point (frustrated).

New USB hub ordered... have my doubts.

I need new rudders anyway.  Not sure if I should expect Saiteks to last 5 or 6 years.  So, that'll probably be next.

Hi.

Now you say, I also have some issues with the Saiteck Combat Pedals (after 10 years?). Sometimes, mostly when the weather is hot, when I take the feet of the pedals or step pack, all my soysticks seems to briefly disconnect and connect back, in less than a second, althought the Joystick (X52 PRO) will need to move in all directions/range to calibrate  again. After that, all ok.

I won't change the pedals any time soon, so I ll have to live with it.

It's probably worth mentioning.... flying on Enigma's last night with a buddy/wingman.  At least once, his controls (also UH-1) froze at near the same exact time and duration mine did.

I also became suspicious of the Throttle, however I just don't know.  So when it happens, I wiggle everything a little.  Seems to work, controls come back.  Could just as easily be coincidence, but, with wingman reporting the same thing, I'm inclined to think hardware or lag on one end or the other.

Will report anything new and after new equipment arrives.

I'm finding I'm in a similar situation..

Not ALL the controls lock ALL the time

Sometimes it feels like wiggling the rudders brings them back.  Sometimes cranking the (Warthog) flightstick.  Sometimes the throttle.

I just can't nail it down have removed power management from USB ports... changed to 2.0 ports...... sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh

My torque pedals are... set in settings I believe

You're right. I stand corrected. I just never use it with pedals, as that would be strange. Forgot the Huey has it.

Anyway, If you have selected "central poistion" trimming as @Sacarino111 mentions, which is a good lead. The controls will stop responding until you center them when you press trim. Never got used to this option, but now I have FFB and non-centering pedals anyway.

Hope this helps.
Cheers!

Ok then... it was Central Position Trimmer

Here's the thing.  First, I have no recollection of it being set that way.

Second.  For whatever reason, I've always operated the UH-1 like that.  Hit Trimmer, return to center... as I said, this almost always happened during transition and on approach, especially when trying to come in fast.  I THINK one or more of my controllers (all at least 7yrs old) making it all the way back to perfect center which explains why increasing the dead-zone in all of them lessened the problem.

Also, I think each controllers "return to center" works independantly because I didn't always lose all controls... I got every single variation of what was or wasn't locked at any given time, it wasn't always all or none.

Anyway, thanks for the help.  It's actually hard to get used to (and MUCH easier) horsing the Huey around and not having to be on guard for the sudden loss of control.  Gotta admit though, it was an awesome training aid as I always knew I needed to be REAL smooth on landing.  I actually set her down a couple times with no control at all haha!
