TGP Black Hot, White Hot Problems in Syria with F16 with Quest 2

I am sure i am doing something wrong. I am setting up missions in Syria using both Mission Editor and Briefing Room. At any rate, when I go to use the TGP,  Black hot and white hot doesn't work at all. It makes my target invisible. I can only seem to use TV. I have tried different times of day. I had the enemy tanks move so their motor was hot. I put it on active pause and played with contrast and gain and other settings in the F16.  I cant see anything using Black hot and White hot. Is it a map problem, TGP problem, F16 problem, user error? Coming from the F18, I didnt seem to have this problem. Thoughts??????

Hmm... Is anybody else having this problem? I just had my tank do some traveling and I put it on active pause and followed him with the TGP and again, Nothing. TV is the only option. My wing men can find them with 0 problems but when using the TGP, I cant see them on BH or WH. If I have my wing man blow him up the fire is very visible.

If you late activate units in the mission editor they should then spawn with hot engines.

The sooner an option gets added to the editor to warm engines the better. With path finding being so broken and ground units generally causing big FPS issues (especially in multiplayer) moving units around becomes less viable. Which ironically sort of nullifies the point in having a fancy FLIR model.

Yep I have the same issue, only useful mode is TV on the TGP

it is my understanding that all vehicles have to have their textures updated to denote WH and BH. that will undoubtedly take some time. but that does not explain why late activation is a workaround.

I've off and on had issues with seeing things on the TGP and/or visually in VR, G2. Playing with settings has helped some. Gamma makes a big difference but surprisingly so has smoke density and secondary shadows. Depending on the mission and whether it is multi or single player also seems to matter. ATM everything seems to be working well enough but it was working before the last patch then wasn't afterwards. In general, a problem in VR has, I think, many moving parts that won't be solved, if then, until VR get a lot more love. For now the VR experience when it is working is as good as it gets flying a desktop sim. IMHO, of course.

I think the issue is the AGC not being particularly automatic, when you switch to MGC and then use the Gain (I have an external monitor export for MFD’s), I find that 7G/8G and 5L, works best for me with a little bit of brightness adjustment to sharpen it. This gives me a very bright white image of the vehicles and makes them easy to spot with the TGP in WHOT mode.

I use the Quest 2 as well. There's a couple different things at play here. Like others mentioned, there's the fact that some units haven't been updated for the new FLIR, and units have to have their engine(s) running or have recently fired their weapons to show up as hot.

What I've found challenging is having to reprogram my brain to look for smaller, oddly-shaped heat signatures after years of unrealistically glowing vehicles. Now we have a more realistic representation of only the vehicle's hot areas appearing as hot, so you won't be seeing a silhouette of a vehicle, and rather a blob around the engine compartment, or a hot tank barrel. This makes it more challenging to find the targets.

As a side note, this being a question/discussion and not a bug report, nor in the bug report section, I find the tag "cannot reproduce and missing trackfile" unneeded.
