stenji Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 According to the Matt Wagner's Case III Chart included in the F/A-18C Hornet manual the Marshal radial should be 15 to 30 degrees off the final bearing. That's not mentioned in the Supercarrier manual and I realized the offset is never instructed in DCS. Will it be implemented and when?

Currently, offsets are neither implemented, nor explicitly mentioned in the roadmap. And several threads requesting them got no official response. 4 Dima | My DCS uploads
Thomas_LOLW Posted December 1, 2022 Posted December 1, 2022 in our squadron, we always fly 30° angled approach. So, after the inbound call, just add 30° to the radial given by AI Marshal, put it into the HSI and fly towards the SC TACAN on that radial until you are 15 nm away from the carrier. Then enter the final bearing and arc to that final bearing. Works fine for us! 1 Intel Core i5-12600KF, 6x 3.60 GHz, 4xE, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, Windows 11. VR in Reverb G2 and Oculus Quest 2

MARLAN_ Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 IRL they target 0 degrees, no reason to make it harder. Offsets come into play when for whatever reason it isn't possible to have aircraft marshalling in that direction (e.g. airspace rules) Virtual CVW-8 - The mission of Virtual Carrier Air Wing EIGHT is to provide its members with an organization committed to presenting an authentic representation of U.S. Navy Carrier Air Wing operations in training and combat environments based on the real world experience of its real fighter pilots, air intercept controllers, airbosses, and many others.
Minsky Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 An offset could appear at any time after the inbound call, due to carrier's maneuvering. That's why the approach tells you the final bearing on check-in (right before you're supposed to begin your correction). Dima | My DCS uploads

Yeah...I don't know why we make our lives harder...it is just established routine I guess...as a newbie I did not question it when I joined. (and @MARLAN_, just fyi ) Not that it's a big deal, and I don't have any experience with the AI Marshal, but from an IRL perspective, you seem to be doing it the "correct" way in your gang, @Thomas_LOLW. The offset is common and enables them to more easily adjust approaches if they need to. Zero degrees is uncommon/rare, and 30 degrees is common from what I have learned, but it's not always 30 (nothing wrong with using that as a standard in DCS though). I also believe left is more common than right, but don't quote me on that one. 1 Bankler's CASE 1 Recovery Trainer
MARLAN_ Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 I got 0 degrees from our groups IRL Airboss, maybe different carriers do different things. Jenson Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 I guess in game just follow ATC's instruction? And marshal redial offset only happens when too many flights in the stack?
