TrackIR Problem

Odd problem started a few days ago. Found that TrackIR starts normally from the icon on the task bar once. After closing, it immediately crashes every time I try to restart it until I reboot. However, if I right click the same icon and choose TrackIR from the pop up menu it works properly every time. This is the only app on my taskbar that behaves like this. I am running Windows 11 with the developer insider updates. Did a system restore to before the last update and many other system checks.

I don't have Win11 (using Win10 Pro 64bit and will keep on using it), so not sure if the following applies - also not sure if you have tried it already.

Could be as simple as reinstaling the software (to clear any corrupted files).

Afterwards, you may also wish to try some different compatibility settings on the program executable.
Right click in it and then click on "Properties", then on "Compatibility" and set that to "Windows 7" (or instead "Windows 8").
You may also wish to try to set it to "Run as Administrator" as well.

You should not run pre-builds, dev-editions or such on a PC that you rely on !!!   Use Hyper-V, VMware, Virtual Box, just to name a few, install them virtually.

Buy some Win10 keys off ebay and use those for your extra needed licenses then, its 5€ per key....and your PC remains stable, let the VM's crash

 

I run 5x Win Desktops just for tinkering in VMware, along many others, Firewall, NAS, Win SRV, Linux SRV, Linux Desktops, MS-DOS and some other freaky OS'.

I tried an uninstall and reinstall earlier. No help. Nor does running as Administrator. Odd behavior.

Workaround is easy enough though. Thought someone else may have seen this. Probably aren't many silly enough to run the developer updates.

I got a crash by putting the Tr5 icon on the taskbar too. Easy fix to just put the icon on the desktop.

heck yes, though mine doesn't crash as yours, it refuses to maximize again. I need to click on the main program icon to make it visible again. Kinda strange

Latest 11 Updates & latest Nvidia btw.

I'm on Win 10 and it doesn't work there either. Kind of weird?

Let‘s be real here. TrackIR hasn’t been updated in ages. It‘s a wonder that it runs without issues most of the time. (fingers crossed!)

That said, running MS insider builds is risky business nevertheless!

They constantly add support to new titles though.
