I've disabled all mods and tried in 2D vs VR, still crashing, most times without a log file being created. I don't know what else to do; 2.7 was rock solid and I haven't changed anything on my setup.

Hi. Two mods are throwing errors when the log ends: Tacview and DCSDTC. Maybe they are conflicting. Disable them one after the other and see what you get.

You only removed Tacview. DCSDTC is still active, which means it's the designated culprit.

My gut feel is that 2.8 is tipping your PC over the edge if you're getting reboots and BSODs.

I had this in the past with a well know racing sim - it was the only thing that caused the PC to hang but I am sure it was down to PC cooling and was the one thing that would stress my PC enough to tip it over. I fixed it temporarily by constraining the FPS to a fixed level rather than running free and permanently by improving the PC cooling.

If I overclock my 8600K to 5.0 GHz it will occasionally BSOD, again typically when under heavy load with a racing or flying sim. At 4.9 it runs fine.

Although DCS 2.8 is the one factor that causes it and so is the culprit, it may well be that it is pushing your GPU or CPU to a level where your PC I can't cope which 2.7 didn't. Just a thought.

With hard PC crashes, the first question should always be, are there any overclocks applied (GPU, CPU, RAM)?

Even if it ran stable for some time, change in ambient temp, degradation over time, slight change in loads, new software can tip it over the edge.

If the answer is no, you can continue hunting the culprit. But if there are any, you should first check if the crash still happens with the overclocks (and undervolts) removed.

(from my experience, GPU problems most often only lead to CTD, whereas CPU/RAM issues may cause a BSOD or reset.)

Thanks fellas.

1) @Flappie Turning off the lua seems to have done it, i wasn't even able to idle at the airfield for a couple of minutes before it would crash but if I took off quickly it wouldn't be a problem unless I switched airplanes or something like that.

2) @Baldrick33 Thanks, this was the other thing everything was running so smooth and cool i was like "uhhggg!!! WHY is this happening?"...

3) @Hiob Also thank you too, I updated my bios last weekend and i was wondering if that was involved but i got to thinking about it and I was like "noo, cause it was doing that before the update." also I don't have anything overclocked and I have plenty of ram and just didn't know what was going on.

But let me ask you guys this, my SRS isn't connecting to the game is that because the lua script is turned off?

You're welcome. 👍

Renaming your "Export.lua" script disabled all your custom scripts, SRS among them. Now, we need to find which script cause havoc in DCS. Please attach your Export.lua.back file.

Now, that's weird:  the only script called by your Export.lua file is... SRS. Usually, this mod never cause havoc in DCS.

You should try uninstalling/reinstalling SRS. Don't worry the uninstaller keeps your custom settings. I know for sure because I did that just a few days ago.

You have a lot of mods installed. One may cause your issue. Please try this:

  1. Go to "Saved Games".
  2. Rename "DCS.openbeta" to "DCS.openbeta.bak" (do NOT delete it, you will need it to retrieve your custom settigns among other things).
  3. Start DCS: it will ask for your credentials, then it will create a brand new "DCS.openbeta" folder.
  4. Exit DCS.
  5. Go to "Saved Games/DCS.openbeta.bak/Config" (the old folder).
  6. Copy the "Input" folder.
  7. Paste it into "Saved Games/DCS.openbeta/Config" and accept overwriting. You should now have retrieved your custom bindings.
  8. See if DCS keeps crashing.

My apologies, I thought I had disabled them all but it appears I forgot the Saved Games' ones.
