Sr. Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 I recently switched back to 2D from VR. Using DIY trackIR now. I primarily run the A-10C II, Fa-18 and Viper. Of the 3 the only one that places me in the expected view once mission starts is the Hornet. The hog a Viper both start me in what looks like a warped, tunnel view set far back from the hud. Also, even if I zoom in to make it look "normal", the HUD frame of the Viper will be natural size but the hud symbology is reduced by about 1/3. Are there different view .lua files per aircraft I should clear out? I have already deleted the snapviews.lua from Save Games. And did a repair install. MadKreator Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 (edited) You can change your pilot view position r-shift+r-ctrl+ the number pad keys and * and \ to zoom .. r-alt+ numberpad 0 will save that viewpoint as the default view( numberpad 5),( especially helpful in the a-10 , and others, to get a better view of the hud). However the main/default view zoom/ fov will always be the same. I have view zoom in/ out on a hat as well since I mess with it a lot even using track IR. I don’t belie ve there is a way to change that. 2.8 added a fov slider but it changes when you use the zoom function in game, its useless. The default fov must be coded in per aircraft , I’ve never found a way change that. Sr. Posted November 13, 2022 Author Posted November 13, 2022 (edited) Just verified, all my aircraft are "normal" except for the A-10C II and the F-16. F-16 has the additional annoyance of the HUD symbology being reduced by 2/3 size. All of your user specific configuration is in the directory C:\Users\{Your Windows Username}\Saved Games\DCS or C:\Users\{Your Windows Username}\Saved Games\DCS.OpenBeta rename the main folder and start a mission. see if it changes. do not delete!!! if it works then it is a file in the renamed folder causing the issue. Solution Flappie Posted November 13, 2022 Solution Posted November 13, 2022 No need to rename the main folder: custom views are stored in "Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\View\SnapViews.lua". Here's mine: it contains two entries, one for the A-10A and one for the Bf-109K. See if the F-16C and A-10C II are present in yours, @Sr.. SnapViews.lua ---
Sr. Posted November 13, 2022 Author Posted November 13, 2022 Managed to get it back to normal by deleting the SnapViews.lua I think where they're getting messed up is using the Ctrl/Shift Num keys to adjust. Then thinking I was saving by using right/alt+ Num0 Which resulted it the left side of the canopy closer to me and head moved to the right. I used to tweak them a lot, but recently, f-18 mostly , they seem to bug out.. haven’t had the problem in others. Almost like it centers the view with your head out of the cockpit lol I thought I was mis-pressing a button and screwing it up. Deleting snap views reset all mine as well. Re-did the view position the next go around and it adjusted and saved just fine Intel i7 13700k, ASUS rog strix z790A, 64gigs G.Skill Trident DDR5 @6400Mhz, Nvidia RTX 4080FE, 4TB, 2x 2TB, 1TB Samsung NVME, 1TB Samsung SSD, Corsair RM1000x, Corsair Titan 360 X AIO cooler, Lian Li LanCool 2, VKB Gunfighter Ultimate, VKB Custom STECS , MFG Crosswinds, Moza FFB, Virpil Collective, Track IR5, 48” LG UltraGear OLED & HP 24” touchscreen for Helios,49” Samsung Ultrawide, Streamdeck XL, Corsair Virtuoso RGB Headphones
