Rrgt ! I think the MK2 Ultra would be a better center stick with the F18 grip. Great product either way I'm going on 2 years now with the R3L/F16 grip and use it for only the Viper as it was intended to be,  it's so realistic and wouldn't fly the viper with anything else.

Does the Ultra support the haptic feedback with the v2 stick? It’s not really clear from their website. Almost sounds like it’s only supported by the lightning which wouldn’t make much sense.

Do you mean this sentence on their website:
"Haptic vibration actuator (available only in Right Hand v2 versions and functional only with FSSB-R3 Lighting)."

I think it simply wasn't updated after the Ultra Release.

Happily using a V2 Grip with Ultra base and a working haptical vibration feedback here.

Thanks Sile, Does the haptic feedback work for stuff like strafing, speed brake, gear etc. or is it only to indicate if you are getting close to stick limits?

Only for limit indication. This is very useful in VR for me.
No game feedback for me, maybe i'm missing something? But to my knowledge it's only for travel limit indication.

Edit: See screenshot from the manual for reference.

Yes, that is what I read in the manual as well. There was just a user on Reddit that kind of implied it did more than that.
I currently have the WinWing MFSSB with the shake kit added and it’s actually super nice with the haptic feedback, so I hope they expand the functionality on the Realsimulator V2 at some point.
Looking forward to comparing the two sticks. My Ultra is shipping Monday.

Has anyone else had an issue with the F16 stick being recognized by the Ultra base? I just got my setup in today and the F16 stick left LED intermittently illuminates. Doesn't recognize in the RS HID program or in windows.

edit: problem was sorted by RS support. Had to re-adjust the base connector

Yes, i saw that post, too. And it confused me.

On the other hand, there are posts in the realsimulator forum, asking for that functionality to be expanded for game feedback, so i think it is not giving that feedback currently.

I wish realsimulator was less vague on that feature.

Got this answer from RealSimulator:

“At this moment the haptic feedback only warn about the force. Our intention is cover more actions in a near future.”

Just received my FSSB R3 Ultra. Is it normal to hear a sound when you turn the base upside down? Almost like there is something loose inside?

The R3L has 2 MB plugs I think is for changing a TM board ? I remember seeing an extra connector in it maybe your hearing it move around in there.

Is it on top of the print where you can see it or below? This sound is coming from below.
I a couple of wires on top when looking at it from below and those are not making the noise.

You may have to go to the Resimulator forum and post that issue.

I did with a video. I’m out of town right now, so I can’t check, but one of the RealSim guys thinks it might be a couple of washers for the screws that hold the warthog PCB if you use that which I don’t. Sounds plausible.

Love this SSC! Did a little Air Refueling test with it.
Still trying to figure out how I’m going to utilize all the extra available buttons/modes beyond the standard ones. Do you have a good config, please share details.

Nice flying! And love the RDAF display livery. Recently took the Norwegian one for a spin :

This is my config, also have a small dead zone in DCS (2 in both axis)

I utilize some of the extra button functions with:

  • Pinky switch left: HSI mode switch ( to quickly swap navigation modes)
  • Pinky switch right : Kneeboard on/off
  • NWS button up: UHF coms menu
  • NWS button down: VHF coms menu
  • Trim hat depress: Recenter VR view

All this positive talk here has sold me on one of these bases.  However, every time I click on their buy it button for the MKII Ultra, I just see a nice red "Out of Stock" banner. Feels like it's been a few weeks of checking now...

Anyone know how often they restock these?

Recommend the castle cup! And as Alex mentioned, its very easy to change. Pops right off 🙂

After flying with it last night, I like the Ultra quite a bit, but now I really wish it had more than 13lbs force... It's much easier to max out vs the lightning. It's going to require some time to get used to.

Don't think you are making a bad decision holding on to your Lightning at all! Enjoy it!

I would not recommend the upgrade unless you're able to sell your lightning for almost full price.

What would you recommend if you havent bought a base yet, sounds like Ultra is still the way to go?

Yes, I like both but the Ultra a fair bit more. Once I got used to the extra movement it is just amazing. Maneuvers like four point rolls and knife edge passes became much more intuitive to do.
