I know there is a thing about nuclear weapons in DCS. I know Ed has stated flat out, no more nucs. I think I have a compromise.

What about practice bombs. I was talking in my squadron about this, and honestly having practice B61's for US aircraft would at least slightly solve this issue. Some people really want them, because the jets really can carry them. Pilots need to train with them, (real life) and the aircraft need to be tested to ensure clean separation with the weapon. As a practice B61 could be skinned to look real, and won't crash servers since it doesn't blow up, I think this might be a nice compromise solution.

Practice bombs for the B61? anyone?

Although I have nothing against 'em (in DCS), I fear such weapons would cripple framerates to single digits

Oh they do cripple frame rates. My squadron has done drops with the Nucs on the MiG-21. It's a server crasher. But having training bombs for the B61 might at least allow some leeway for the more sim focused squadron and people, without ED having to let this particular cat out of the bag. I know there's lots of people who REALLY, REALLY want the B61 for the Hornet, Viper and other "WIP" modules. This seemed like a compromise solution to me. Anyone from ED want to weigh in on this?
