TEMPEST.114 Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 as title says. Was working prior to latest 'patch'.
Callsign JoNay Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 I haven't noticed any change in the probe light at all since I started flying the module 2 years ago. I shared a screen shot in the other identical bug report you created, and I did night time AAR yesterday and the light functions. The light sucks, and doesn't point at he basket or the tanker, but it technically functions the same as it always has. Share some pictures or video demonstrating the before and after difference you're seeing.

RustBelt Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 (edited) No light? Like the probe isn’t red? Or no light like it stinks at throwing light as bad as the position lights do? Also is the blackout switch on the throttle switched? Don’t remember if that does or doesn’t do the probe light. Edited January 4, 2023 by RustBelt

You could roll back your install to the version of the game where think it was working differently. Or share an older screenshot or video from a previous flight (even if it's someone else's video). Or at least show us some kind of picture of it not working in your current install. I showed you a picture in your other identical bug report that my probe light functions. It's terrible, and isn't helpful at all, but it functions the way it has always functioned in previous patches. Edited January 4, 2023 by Callsign JoNay 1
JupiterJoe Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 (edited) @Elphaba you're a talented guy. I read your thread about flaws in the implementation of weather code. Is there anything you can see in the code that would might help point towards getting the exterior lighting working as it should? It's a problem that seems exclusive to the F-14. The fuel probe lamp has never shed enough light to be useful. The anti-collision and navigation lights don't have the draw-distance (LOD issue?) luminance you see on say the F-16 & Hornet. I envy their awesome looking flashing strobes and glistening green formation lights. JupiterJoe Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 (edited) I think the fuel probe light is aimed at the Aircraft Datum Line, to a point just in front of the aircraft. This is no good to anybody, as the the probe is off-set from the ADL by quite a margin. The refuelling probe light needs to be pointed more to the right too, to highlight the basket and some of the tanker. An increase in brightness wouldn't hurt either. Anyway, hopefully the image below helps illustrate what I mean: Edited January 20, 2023 by JupiterJoe 3 Intel Core i7-8700K CPU @ 3.70GHz - 64GB RAM - Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 - Microsoft Sidewinder Force-feedback 2 - Virpil Mongoose CM-3 Throttle

You won't see it reflect light off the basket in DCS unless you are about to miss high. The light is useless if your probe is properly lined up with the basket as you approach. Maybe the cone of light needs to be adjusted wider in all directions. 3
draconus Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 (edited) Whether the light need changes to its power and direction should be decided upon SMEs and docs, not by logic or player comfort. Oops, as usual there is already a two year-old thread about this subject I didn't see. Apparently it's a problem that's yet to be addressed: Edited January 20, 2023 by JupiterJoe Intel Core i7-8700K CPU @ 3.70GHz - 64GB RAM - Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 - Microsoft Sidewinder Force-feedback 2 - Virpil Mongoose CM-3 Throttle
