Well another suggestion then. If they are not going to give the pilot an oxygen mask. How about this? If you take the plane above 12k the pilot starts to turn Blue like a Smerf.

Yeah, give him mask, it’s right and proper.

I also like the idea of him turning into Papa Smurf. Would frighten the enemy too.

^ Oxygen system works allright. It's just the pilot model that's missing the mask.

12 years without an oxygen mask.  I'd happily pay $10 or $20 or whatever for a simple update.  We're still flying what is essentially an airshow P-51 against real WW2 ere birds that are much more detailed🙄

They don't do it because they either see that the module is rarely used or because nobody asks for it.

It needs a touch-up so that it is at the height of the spit or the thunder

C'mon, Pete, "an airshow P-51" is quite a bit of an exaggeration. This pilot model issue is cosmetic only and doesn't affect combat cababilities of the module in any way. Low-tier cosmetic even, I'd say, compared to some of the official skins not being fully converted to PBR standard for example. I suspect that's also the reason why not many folks are vocal about it and why it's a low-priority development item.

When Belsimtek originally released the MiG-15, the pilot didnt have an oxygen mask either, the difference is one was added later on along with an updated pilot model. This has also happened with several other aircraft. So we know there's a precedent of pilot models being updated, without the rest of the aircraft being touched.    This is never going to happen with the P-51 unless people are vocal about it.  So be vocal.

A long time ago Wags told me real F-18 pilots suffocate and die between startup and takeoff, which would explain why the Navy is always short on pilots.  Maybe he took the mask off in self defense?
