The ramp is base game. It got added in the free assets that came in the update when the South Atlantic map released.

Wow I didn't realize you could land the F-16 in the dirt without killing the undercarriage.

Off topic but the question begs for contest of: What is the oddest place to land in DCS?

Seriously is there a list of shortest landing strips?

I'll definitely take strangest landing places too! That is seriously impressive!

Nothing strange, since I see people regularly take off from grass in F-16.

The two shortest runways I have successfully used are:

PG Map: Sir Abu Nuayr

SA Map: Pampa Guanaco

Fuel/weapons limited for takeoff

I think if you can do these two you are ok for any landable runway in DCS

If there is a more tricky one I would be very interested to give it a go

Wow, you must have been very limited in weight to pull that off. Idk about Sir Abu Nuayr, but I know Pampa Guanaco is ~2600 ft, which is very little for an F-16.

Clean aircraft with  up to 1000 lbs of fuel on approach. Takeoffs so far have been limited to full internal fuel, full centreline tank and a couple of wingtip AIM-120Cs. I have not explored the maxim takeoff stores so far but I guess a couple of added 9Xs would still be possible.

The southern one of the two airports in Kutaisi city, just north of Kvitiri, also known as Kutaisi west airport. The runway is about 4600 ft. Landed there a couple times with 4 AIM-120s, 2 AIM-9Xs, and fuel probably around 3k.

If you are looking for some interesting approaches, try Gelendzhik from north-east (Caucasus), Khasab runway from south, either directly over the mountains or the approach through the mountain valleys south and east of Khasab (Persian Gulf), or the ILS or VOR/LOC X 21L approach into Nellis (Nevada).

Just tried a couple of landing/takeoffs at both airfields, just for the fun of it:

PG Map: Sir Abu Nuayr 2229 feet long

SA Map: Pampa Guanaco 2349 feet long.

Landed at both with less than 1000lbs of fuel. A quick OTR and took off with full internal fuel, full centreline, full ammo, 4 x AIM-120C and 2 x 9X.

No problems. Not sure how much scope there is for additional weight.

Wow I just tried these myself and that is a tricky landing to pull off

Another good one I've found is Wujah Al Hajar. It's ~4500ft but it's built at an incline and overlooks a cliff so if you overshoot it's game over. Haven't managed to actually land there myself.

This is in Syria map, right? No luck so far, even approach from the south direction.

FYI only, there are a number of nameless air stripes on Caucasus map which are short, I am not counting that infamous "the most bombed airfield in DCS World", scattered around. I usually left them for other aircraft to try like the Viggen.

Since I discovered they added the option for ground starts in the editor I've started making improvised road bases in various parts of the maps where the roads are wide/straight enough. It's a shame we don't have arresting wires or an F-16 with a drag-chute though. Either of those would really increase the possibilities.

I haven't yet tried in an F-16 but i've landed a Hornet and a Viggen on the longest straight of the Yas Marina F1 track in the PG map. One to have a crack at tonight I guess, although I haven't got high hopes as I could barely stop the Hornet in time (Viggen much easier with the reverser).

Like seemingly everyone else i've done the carrier landing in the F-16 since the hook was added. Managed to get off of it again too with a full deck run-up (was on about 20% fuel and only carrying a couple of winders)

taking off is the easy part, lately i have been seeing how short of a space i can take off with, usually with a full a2a load and full fuel, the real fun comes at the landing!  try the pagan airstrip in the marianas map, do go to far right or to far left.
