DishDoggie Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 (edited) On one of the Biggest MSFS Guys announced that HP is ending its G2 and pulling out of VR. They have supported him and given him gear. They were the first support his channel so It is very good source for this news. If you wanted to buy one or upgrade to one I would do so before they start becoming hard to find and the price goes up. This is sad news because HP G2 is the BEST MID range VR headset without it your limited on Mid range units. Edited February 5, 2023 by DishDoggie
dburne Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 I am sure Meta loves this news as the only other mid to low range device is their Quest 2. Pico 4, which is better than Quest 2 in every way except selection of stand alone VR games. Pico 4 has better lenses than G2 and if Pico 4 actually had the ability to use displayport instead of just wifi and usb C, I would get one. i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 3090, 64Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.
dburne Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Also Pico 4 limited to certain countries, not available in NA. 1 Don B EVGA Z390 Dark MB | i9 9900k CPU @ 5.1 GHz | Gigabyte 4090 OC | 64 GB Corsair Vengeance 3200 MHz CL16 | Corsair H150i Pro Cooler |Virpil CM3 Stick w/ Alpha Prime Grip 200mm ext| Virpil CM3 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Base w/ Alpha-L Grip| Point Control V2|Varjo Aero|
ColinM9991 Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 This has been known for some time, but I wonder if HP have already stopped manufacturing headsets as I've noticed the G2 Omnicept Edition has been out of stock now for 2-3 months.
Dragon1-1 Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 I wonder what this means for professional G2 headsets. Companies don't like using equipment that's out of support, so perhaps we'll see some second hand offers float up from business users replacing their stocks. Pity, though, they had a good thing going. Pico 4 seems to have serious issues with DCS right now, particularly OpenXR (not to mention its other quirks, suck as lack of headset audio), and the other options are way more expensive. Looks like I'm going to stick with the G2 for the foreseeable future. Which is fine, it's a great headset. Might try buying a face gasket with thinner foam, but that's it.

ironhard Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Unless someone comes up with a reasonably priced option, PCVR has given a turn for the worse. 2
Glide Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 I've had my G2 for about 15 months now. I bought 3 year next day replacement warranty for it. I opened a case for a flaw in the lens to get replacement. They simply closed the case without a word. I'd say they are gone.

They sent it out the next day. Their support was all via a whats app support number over text which is a little irritating but otherwise I can’t fault them.
