Jagr Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Just wondering if anyone had thought about the "grey/black/green" AH-1W USMC style camo? Or the desert version of the same pattern? Would be a cool addition to the skin supply..
hitman Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I would suggest looking for european air bases for the AH-1W, because most US based Cobras are either light gray or Gray-Green.
RCN_Moose Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Let me know if this is the one you are talking about. As you can tell from the quick test I did, the scheme isn't going to line up as well on the KA-50.
RCN_Moose Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 And almost done. Just need to correct a couple of spots where the textures don't line up perfectly. I'll release it tomorrow.
Zembla Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Splendid work. Though from the screenshots, something seems amiss with the font used for the word "MARINES". Maybe this website (daFont) can be helpful to you. They have a whole lot of Army stenciled fonts. -Z [sigpic][/sigpic] I aaaaaam ... a banana!
RCN_Moose Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Whats the font is also a good website. Unfortunately I can't find a good photo from the side that has a clear view of MARINES, so I just went with a close match for the moment.
Sid6dot7 Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 (edited) Maybe you can make a good use of this. It is a decalset from a AH-1Z scale model. congo Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I started on this one a while back and just plugged it into the USMC fictional slot which is pretty easy to do with CDSS explorer. I work on it when I get the chance along with several other skins.
Jagr Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 Not sure if you have tried this, but the IN GAME AH-1W is painted up in the exact scheme we're discussing.. markings and all..
RCN_Moose Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Hmm, did not know that.........However, even knowing it, and know the file names it uses, I can't find it in the game directories. Not a biggie however, since I've already finished the one I was working on and uploaded to lockonfiles. It will show up shortly.
RCN_Moose Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Aha, Found it. Wouldn't have really saved me any work. But it's certainly easier to look at :) I did miss the markings on the tail (couldn't make them out from my pics) so I'll prob add those.
congo Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Maybe you can make a good use of this. It is a decalset from a AH-1Z scale model. Thank you! I am putting them to good use.
soup55 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 RCN Moose, Great job on the Marines camo skin. Is it ready for download? If so, where? Thanks for your hard work. It is greatly appreciated! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] SOUP55:matrix:
Flim Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 It would be cool to have a US camo flag, like the troops where on their shoulders. Ya, where is the download?

Moose, Nice job on the skin but I think you need to reverse the intake flashes. They would be correct if they were on the outside of the engine cowling aft of the intake. The open end of the flash should face in the direction of the opening.
RCN_Moose Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 It's already available at www.lockonfiles.com However, I just uploaded Version 1.1, which fixes the intake graphics. Versions 1.1 should show up in an hour or two on the site.
