Good evening, I noticed that in openbeta 2.9 the JDAMs of the Mig29MU2 do not hit the target, the error is notable. The B-21's JDAMs still hit accurately

I think I'm going to hold off making any changes to my assets until ED have released a couple of 2.9 hotfixes. Otherwise I'll just be chasing my own tail.

Edit: It looks like ED decommissioned and replaced the scheme I used for the JDAM-ER.

That's why we have this on the 2.9 changelog:

DCS: JF-17 by Deka Ironwork Simulations

  • Fixed: LS-6 and GB-6 do not fly to target

So I have updated the JDAM-ER accordingly, and it works fine now. I will release the updated MiG-29MU2 since it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the other strange missile stuff going on. 👍🏻

Hi CurrentHill! The Merkava 4M would be an interesting novelty for the Middle Eastern theater. Also because the Trophy system can finally be simulated quite well.

so idk how this happened but just to be sure i removed every other mod (except for the UndE radar) and re-installed this mod but somehow the missiles are still Huge. maybe a 2.9 bug?

also: the IRIS-Ts give an RWR warning...

I meant a mission file, with the extension .miz. If you save a missions they are by default placed in a folder called Mission in your DCS saved games folder.

Haha, yep, that's the ICBM version of the IRIS-T. 😅

But was this problem also there before the last update? Is it possible that there are such serious bugs in this game?🙁

Yep, the DCS graphics engine seem to be less forgiving now. There was an scaling issue with the IRIS-T, DCS versions before 2.9 didn't really care about them, but the new version is very strict on the matter. So I figured I should fix these old scaling issues (in my case these are mostly my earlier work when I didn't know of this) even if ED make changes to the graphics engine. Because you never know if they will turn up again in the next version.

In short, if you make sure the scaling is correct with your 3d models before exporting the EDMs you should be fine, otherwise DCS 2.9 will make you notice them. 😅

is the RWR warning of the IRIS-Ts intentional?

I got both a lock and a launch warning in the MiG-29S while flying towards it

Yeah, sorry, forgot to answer that. Had all my focus on the enormous missile. 😅

It's intentional, I haven't found a good way to implement IR guided missiles which are vertically launched. The preferred solution would be for ED to implement a LOAL feature to the missile scheme. But until then I needed an active/self guiding missile which would work while launched vertically. My only option was an active radar seeker. I had to do the same with the Sea Ceptors and other similar missiles too. When I find a better solution I will implement it. 👍🏻

I've been having problems spawning the M1A2 Sepv3, (appears in the editor but does not spawn in) and I saw on your website others were having issues with PGL-625 spawning. Is this a similar issue?

Nope, the PGL-625 had to be updated since DCS 2.9 required a new parameter for a missile. I've tested the Abrams a lot and I can't find any issues or error messages connected to it.

Start a single mission with only the Abrams, quit and then send me your DCS.log. I'll take a look and see if there is something obvious going on. 👍🏻

Can someone please tell me why DCS released 2.9 and didn't check to see if cruise missiles would orbit?

Geezus.

In fact, they should not just fix that but award you points for... wait for it... shooting them down from your MiG-29C or such, like this platform:

Unfortunately this morning I added some mods to the tech folder and now the game crashes, there are some mods that are no longer compatible, this update has created many problems. I had to remove the Type 055 Destroyer 1.5.0 mod. 🙁

interesting.. hopefully we'll get that feature when the IRIS-T gets added with the Eurofighter.

in the meantime, do you think its possible to make it only give a launch warning instead of lock and launch(like the core game NASAMS does)?

That's strange. There shouldn't be any issues with the Type 055, except for the orbiting cruise missiles where we need a DCS hotfix. I can run all my 100+ assets without issues.

Then it could be some other mod that conflicts with this one

This is nothing, just all the missiles are flying past the target, but imagine what will happen after the release of DCS 3.0? Will all mods have to be rewritten again? But it is not known when this will happen, I think no earlier than 2025. Modders, save the sources!😃

I see what you mean, but I think we shouldn't overstate the mod issues. I only had to fix two of my 100+ assets after the 2.9 update. And one of them was an oversight on my part, the missile scaling. The main issues with the 2.9 update affects core game as well as the mods, pretty much to the same extent.

Well made (code and models) mods should pretty much only be affected to the same extent as the DCS core assets. 👍🏻
