Hey buds, yep, finally bought it, and even though I was very pleased with my freetrack setup, TrackIR feels a lot better, both for precision and tracking range. The only thing I've noticed is even when my computer is shut down, the blue light still blinks from time to time on the TrackIR, and also my TrackClip Pro leds are always on. My question is should I unplug my TrackIR setup everytime shut down my pc to prevent faster wear, or it doesn't really matter?

Cheers,

great question, Ive wondered that myself.

I dont use the track clip though. I tried to, but the extra wires really bother me, and for some reason, it doesn't seem to work as well as the vector clip does for me.

It is weird how the leds stay on though, I just ended up unplugging it.

Dont let the smell get to ya...............

Hey, mine blinks green :) when the Track-IR app. is not running.

I think it's an indication that the device is in standby and therefore there is almost no wear.

I've used TIR for years. Yeah, the LEDs stay on/blink when it's plugged in.

My original one (v3 I think, or v2 - can't remember) died so I always unplug my newer TIR v4 when I'm not using it - just to preserve longevity.

I don't know if leaving it plugged in does any harm but I figure that unplugging it while not in use can only benefit this delicate piece of hardware...

I just bought mine and i am trying to configure to my tastes but is very aggressive to my responses even with smooth on. Any suggestions of how to configure it?

I'm using the TIR4 for 2 weeks now and here are a few ideas.

You really need to spend time to adjust (trim) the curves in the profile. In the beginning I was very excited but then I found out that without any previous experience how to move the head it is becoming real P.I.A. during combat missions. So I made multiple trial and testing switching between DCS and the TIR software until I found my enigma. Now the flying is exceptional fun....(Here I should add that everyone's enigma appears at different curves :smilewink:)

Regarding the LEDs - well mine are off when computer goes off...

I think there was an option about the LEDs in the TIR software

I have all my computer related stuff connected to a surge protected power strip with an on/off switch. So it cuts off all power to the computer when I turn it off. No blinking lights anymore.

I find it odd that when the computer is completely shut down, the lights are still on, on both the TrackIR and TrackClip :/

Is your TrackIR hooked directly into a motherboard USB slot or a USB hub? If it's an external powered USB hub, TrackIR might still get power when the computer is off and think it's in standby mode as there's no calls from computer.

Most of the newer motherboards still supply power to USB and network ports even with the computer "off"... the computer can be triggered to come "on" through usb or network commands. If you cut the power to the power supply ( either through a power strip or unplugging it ), you won't have the problem ( assuming it's a problem in the first place )

Cheers,

I had similar issues with your symptoms, usually when you close the trackIr application, it should turn off the device…

I had to re install the drivers in a different directory to fix that problem, as for having the device still turned on even if the pc is shut down? Again I had similar issues as well. But a bios upgrade on my mobo seems to have fixed that one although, not entirely fixed, since my lights on my saitek 45 are still on when it’s shut down. Maybe a defect usb port? Who knows…, but it does not bother me as much. The trackIR would since it tends to generate heat.

By the way, way cool to see another “Quebecer” in here :D

Yup TheMoose, very few of us in here :) Tu es de où?

Well I have the latest BIOS for my board, and my TrackIR gear is plugged directly to my motherboard USB slots in the back. I can bypass the issue by shutting down the power supply switch, witch cuts down all power to the computer. I'm not sure it's a problem, was just wondering if others had this behavior too, and if it would eventually shorten the life of my device.

We can say the "problem" is solved... :D

Hi guys, i was just wondering if it would work to use a Wiimote, Freetrack and TrackClip Pro together?

The point is i have a wii at home, so no costs, but im to stupid to build a clip of my own, so i thought i just buy the TrackClip Pro an save me the money for the TrackIR cam.

Does anyone elses TrackIR go into 'Sloooow Motion' sometimes?

I think mine may be overheating, but sometimes it's ok, sometimes it's not. If I close down the Program then restart it's then ok again.

If you use the F8 key to change views you will find it may also be bound by default to the precision function of TIR. You can edit in TIR to disable it if you don't like it or disable the particular view function or select the trap funtion in TIR.:joystick:

Hi Guys,

I use the same Immerman, All my add ons, Rudder pedals, TrackIR, Printer, speakers, etc all switch off when I power down, No wasted energy through out. And that's putting PC into standby. Timm

Cheers Macka, I had a suspicion it was something like that. Apologies for my laziness in not searching, it was always 'one of those things' that i'd sort out eventually lol
