Will this configuration be adequate:  I9-9900K, 32gb ram, RTX2080ti, 256gb nvme for OS, 2-500gb ssd's, 1tb hdd, 1Kpower and win11.

Alienware R-8?

Posted (edited)

Just my 2 cents

Do you have a budget?

Do you plan to use a monitor or VR?

The 9900k is from 2018 thereabouts. Hmm.

Hopefully one of the more knowledgeable posters here can help you out.  After watching a few Alienware reviews, I am not sure that they are worth the asking price.  If Dell did this with a 5K system, I am not sure how an R8 would be.

Yes, just like the previous speaker said, first time
1. Budget?
2. Monitor or VR?
3. Only single player, or also multiplayer?
4. Is it an option to build it yourself? It's really super simple, like Lego with a few extra wires.

I have the R-8 Alienware with those specifications.  I did not want to load DCS onto it until I was sure it would run satisfactorily.  I would like to use VR.  If it cannot run

VR then it probably will not run using a monitor.  The I9-9900k is very similar to the AMD Ryzen7 5800X released in 2000.  I have another system, I9-10900K that has

MSFS and IL2, Lockon and other flight sims.   My I9-12900 system is for my CAD system.  Sitting in the wings is my I9-13900K with a GTX4090 that I am waiting

for the L shaped power connector fix.  Was just curious if the R-8 would run DCS.

This should also work for VR.
Of course with adjusted settings, but that should have been obvious.

Hi.
I’m new to DCS, coming from il2 world. May I ask if my rig is good enough for the game?
I play multiplayer.

Ya, that should work fine unless you want all it has to offer.

In fact, if you're willing to try multithreading beta, you might well be able to get all it has to offer (or not, it's the first public release of that code, after all).

I fly at standard 1440p and my specs are lower than yours and DCS runs well. You should have great flights.

Some of the planes, but all of the maps!

Thanks, Guys.
How do I open the game with multithreading? Is it just double click on the DCS icon in that bin-mt folder?
Cheers.

Yes. And after the game launches, you should see "Multithread Preview 2.8.3.37556" written in usual version number place (bottom right corner of the main menu screen).
