motoadve Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Here is an example of wake turbulence, I am on a constant right turn, and when I get into the wake of the plane in front it moves me to the left even when my stick is to the right, and these planes weight half of what a 109 weights and this chase was at half the speed of what we fly WWII warbirds, DCS wake turbulence is spot ON, I would not change a thing, they have done a great job, hope we can have it in servers when MT arrives. peachmonkey Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 yup, I started playing some MP servers with WT enabled and boy it's pretty tough to knock out an enemy if I get too close too them. At first I thought there was something wrong with my controls then it dawned on me.. 2

Now try that in real life , first time I experienced it I thought my controls did not worked, scared the crap out of me Edited March 9, 2023 by motoadve 4

Gunfreak Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Hope multi-threading gives a good enough boost, so I can turn it back on, right now it takes to much computing power on larger missions. 3 i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 5090 OC, 128Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.

grafspee Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 (edited) I very well recall so called experts complaining about wake turbulence being way off in DCS. That wake is too strong. Fun fact is when you ask so called experts calming the DCS is wrong, they are never are capable to provide any proof. If you question then, they react with "there is no sense to argued, because we are right and you are wrong". The funny thing is you're describing most complain posts on ED forums . 1 "I went into the British Army believing that if you want peace you must prepare for war. It is not quite funny for me, it is quite serious for me. If someone post topic in ED forum saying that all ED is bull<profanity> and when he or she is asked, it responds that you can't understand so back off, and other guy comes in, and says DCS is spot on, and provide evidence in form of recorded of RL flight. What i can say more ? I can say only one thing, "so called experts" it is time to buzz off ! 3 System specs: I7 14700KF, Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite, 64GB DDR4 3600MHz, Gigabyte RTX 4090,Win 11, 48" OLED LG TV + 42" LG LED monitor
MAXsenna Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Didn't ED release a video on how turbulence is modeled? Sent from my MAR-LX1A using Tapatalk

I remember the experts.Found the video pretty neat myself, even though I have no knowledge of the subject. But it looked a lot like what they have shown in "Mayday" whether that's correct or not. Art-J Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 The cool thing is, with the MT performance boost, wake turbulence option is now more, shall we say, attainable for higher number of players. Yesterday I turned it on after years of having it off and went straight into "Bomber Intercept" Caucasus Instant mission for Fw-190A to see how the previously very choppy mission would run with multithreading on my good old i7 9700k and 1440p monitor. I was pleased to note that only inside the B-17 formation I got some stuttering and intermittent "CPU bound" spikes, but otherwise the renderer stayed above V-Synced 60 fps, GPU bound, for the most part. Nice! The only problem is the AI flight models, not coping with turbulence very well. It was comical to see many B-17s at the back of formation jumping up and down 50 meters at least, some of them eventually crashing into each other. Oh well, we can't have everything right. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
