I even have Process Lasso running Virtual Desktop CPU real time priority, DCS and Steam running high priority, ultra power plan and tried restricting DCS to physical cores only. Non MT same issue since version 2.7. , same issue with Pico and Quest 2. I thought it was the Oculus runtime on both, fighting OpenXR but I see a lot of reports of people running the same setup with much improvement. MT runs great when I switch to a triple screen display with plenty of head room on my 3060Ti. In VR the GPU is at 95%, undervolted on a curve at 0.975V and 30 GHz below the VR benchmark max. Gogojuice Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 (edited) Does this seem right for multi threading? The top one is multi thread, the bottom is single thread. Settings are same on both and used f18 free flight in caucus? On MT I get about 40-60 fps On ST its about the same. Is this because I'g GPU bound>? 2080TI 32 gb ram, 5800x3d. I use a Pico4 and have no such a problem but then again I had some good advises from support. First, I downloaded and use Steam, it is important to know which connection you are using, apps interface can look different, same for O.S, I use Windows 11 Pro. Install/update Streaming Assistant. Install Steam VR and Virtual Desktop from Steam Library. In Steam Library you have the choice for downloading/updating/launching Steam VR and Virtual Desktop, the Beta version of Steam Vr can be chosen by right clicking on the icon and chose property/Betas... Connect your Pico to your PC if you are using USB, make sure Windows detected it. 1) Launch Streaming Assistant, it should give you the option of both Wi-Fi, USB as well as its own settings (mine are all maxed out). 2) Steam VR should launch by itself or you can launch it in both desk Icon or Steam Library. 3) Virtual Desktop can be launched then, from the "Home Room" or Steam Library, in the "Games" page you have the option to chose which game to select, it should show your DCS Icon once selected. 4) You can launch DCS directly from Virtual Desktop, you got confirmation from bitching Betty saying "Launching DCS". >>> I use DCS VR in MT without problems, but there are other issues in particular for AMD users which you'll need to sort out if you want maximum performances from your rig, How Microsoft Mess up your system. If you are a Windows 11/AMD user, you constantly have to look for updates that can mess your settings and even replace your native AMD drivers, this results in a loss of performance of about 10% even for the RX 7900 XT/RX 7900 XTX series, I have partially sorted the issue of performances but not yet the intrusive nature of Automatic Updates. For Info, my 3DMark Pro Scores are now regularly above 19,000, Fire Strike MSAA X 2, that's a recovery of more than 7.5$ in average, the card still wont boost by itself but I can O.C it without crashes and mention (Driver Time Out), it will easily reach its nominal boost frequencies, so there are settings in O.S holding AMD GPUs performances down. Be aware. >>> 1) 2) 3) Edited May 3, 2023 by Thinder Win 11Pro. Corsair RM1000X PSU. Thinder Posted May 4, 2023 Posted May 4, 2023 (edited) Still running tests, here is a screenshot of low level flying in the Mirage 2000C, FPS went briefly in the mid-40s in the valley where there is a high number of threes but generally above 50, visual in the side is a little jumpy at time but settings are high. Can be improved. What this shows is my GPU-biased setting, as the CPU doesn't seems to be working as hard, there is room for improvement here, with settings allowing for a better balance between the two, I had Afterburner and AMD Adrenalin screen recording running, GPU is running at 2823MHz vs 2679 MHz "stock" boost frequency, VRAM runs at 2662MHz vs 2500 MHz. So not much room for improvement there, I'm particularly happy with the cooling, I got a new high airflow (94,2 m³/h) Noctua 120mm blowing from the bottom of the case and it works, the temperature stays stable below 80°C. So all in all MT certainly help but if I want a smoother ride, I got to lower settings or find a way to increase CPU usage, perhaps in the next update? Edited May 4, 2023 by Thinder Win 11Pro. This is the worst "procedure" i've ever seen. It's totally wasting ressources with launching a VR app (Steam VR Home) and use it to launch another VR app (the wired PCVR version of Virtual Desktop on SteamVR) to finally start the VR game you want (DCS). It's much better to go this way, to directly(!) launch DCS MT with SteamVR: 1. check SteamVR settings, if Steam VR Home is enabled -> set disable. Now SteamVR should only show the 360° environment with the ground grid on start. 2. bring up the SteamVR dashboard and click the second button on the bottom left that says "desktops". 3. simply click the DCS shortcut you prepared for running multi threading and VR (wherever you placed it, on desktop or in the start menu) @Thinder Your CPU clock speeds at 3600 MHz look very odd, maybe the worst clock speeds i've ever seen on a 5800X3D. They should be much higher under load. As others and myself already assumed in other threads, there are certain things pretty messed up and not working well on your system.
