AI crashes into ground after a couple tight circles in Mission and Instant Action

trying to get into this sim by practicing against AI but they always end up stalling then crashing into the ground. after a couple annoying minutes in a tight circle, the AI pitched up, stalled then crashed. I tried both fa-18 instant action BFM, and against the mig-21 mission, both had same results. Doesn't seem right that the AI can just pull such a tight circle without losing any speed. Anybody know the fix? basically this makes the game unplayable for me until my dad gets more involved in the sim, but even then I want to play more than he can.

Hi. Please attach a DCS track:

  1. Play and reproduce the issue.
  2. Exit the mission.
  3. Click Save Track and choose a location.
  4. Attach your track here.

I was able to recreate it once we were flying in circles. looks like AI turn the plane so hard, they get into a stall. every other manuever seems fine. This was a BFM mission for the fa18 with the MIG 21

I've just run your track in latest OB (2.8.4.39259.1): the MiG survives while your Hornet hit the sea. I wonder it it means that the problem is solved or that the track simply is incompatible with the laest OB.

Not really but they do use simpler flight modeling. You can make your own mission against other aircraft type, set it to easier difficulty, give him more fuel or take away fuel from your aircraft - all this can make it easier to dogfight but it's a lot more to BFM than just tight turning and waiting for angles to win.

I have never seen AI stall itself and hit the ground but I have seen them, when in a dog fight and trying to avoid your gunfire, run themselves into the ground.  And I think they do it far too often.

Sorry, I forgot I made this post. Must be something wrong with the track. I’ll look at it again tomorrow, but most of my dogfighting were ai crashing by themselves (pilot ejecting) then I get bored and eject myself (because doing it in VR is trippy lol) I am using beta so I can fly the apache if that makes a difference.

It's often a case when their fuel is gone.

This doesn't make sense. Apache is on both beta and stable/release since April 2022.

I have to fly another one to see how long the fight lasts, seems like its not long before they run out. I’m using beta because I’ve had it since the apache wasn't in stable and also for the free map.

You can always load the mission into Mission Editor and check your and AI starting fuel state.

Current beta and stable are just 1 update apart and have no difference wrt to supported modules and maps.

Great idea! I’ll check it out tonight. Thank you!

I tried to dogfight the Mirage 2000C Ace AI but it keeps crashing into the ground so often and frequently that I can't even get a shot at it. Gave up after 4 or 5 attempts..

Exactly my issue. It seems like they pull so many Gs all the time that they stall and eject, or in vegas, they hit mountains.

I'm having the same problem but with BVR practice against an ace Su-33, Once we've both launched the ai pulls inverted and dives to defend but at the end of its dive it reverses and instead of pulling out of the dive it lawn darts into the ground. Tough to get any practice in when gravity is stealing all my kills 😛

just ran into this problem with a simple mission i set up to fight two bogeys on 'trained' skill level. every time they crash straight into the ground when trying to avoid my fire. sometimes down a full 90 degrees straight into the ocean. it's very suicidal and takes away the joy of getting the kill yourself. this literally happens to me every time, it's a problem
