Ground Refuel/Rearm

On multiplayer, when landing to refuel and rearm, my fuel is not being topped off.   Sometimes my droptanks are even empty after it says "complete".   Ive selected the refuel n rearm stores with the droptank loadout Im carrying.

Is it best to drop your tanks before landing?

Thanks

It is best to drop your fuel tanks before landing. The fuel tanks will not refuel with your plane or get replaced if they are still on the jet. You can work around this by opening the AAR door which will allow some transfer of fuel from your internal tanks into your bags(this usually doesn't fill up the bags entirely for me, YMMV). You can also just take the tanks off and put them back on again.

Hi, this is old. Try to search a bit. You need to land with at least external fuel quantity missing in internal tanks. E.g., when internal fuel is 9000 and wing tanks have 3000 lb, the max internal fuel on landing is cca 6000 lb.... Then open AAR door and ask ground personnel about refuel🤜🤛

Edit: I didn't knew about that refuel-ratio, as Furiz write below, sorry for that🤝

If your internal tanks are at around 2500lbs or lower it will fill up your ext tanks to full, its just simple mathematics after all;P

If you have 2x bags on wings, the refuel rate in relation to internal tank is 1:2 to each ext tank, so if you fill 100lbs to internal tank, 50lbs will be filled to each of the ext tanks.

open the AAR, Waite about 5 minutes for depressurization (if this is too much time to wait because people wants to hop in action arcade servers, open it before touchdown, while you taxi to EOR give you enough time, although not realistic but of course better than jettison ) then ask ground crew to refuel

if you dont want to wait rearm without Tanks and then reArm again with tanks to get fuel tank

This will actually refuel tanks?  This is implemented?
It's usually easier to just drop them though, since you have an unlimited supply.  Also helps to be light if you get pounced.

You don't have to wait 5 min, but you just have to have AAR doors open, scroll up I explained exactly how to do it.

Off course its easier to drop them and rearm, but if you are going for some realism you can do it with AAR door open. It is after all how it should work, since when you open AAR door ext fuel tanks depressurize and you can fill them up.

I think I tried that before and it doesn't fill them all the way up.  has that changed?

2500 or below internal, will fill them up to full, that's with 2 wing bags, haven't tried with 3 bags tho.

afaik irl you don't need to have less than 2500lbs to fill up external stores. Is this a bug or did I miss something in the manual?

As far as I know its game coding limitation, when refueling in the air it doesn't matter how much fuel you have in internal tanks, you will be topped off.

You get 1 gallon in each external for every 1 gallon which is being added internal. To get 300 gallons for the center tank you need to be getting 300 gallons for the internal tank(s). This is 370 gallons for the wing externals. If you have room in 2 wings and 1 center line then by asking for 1 gallon you will get 4 gallons (1 internal, 1 wing tank left, 1 wing tank right, 1 center). This means the centerline is easiest to fill since it is the smallest. From memory testing if you are < ~37% you will fill 370 tanks and < ~44% will fill 300 tank. Something like that.
