VZ_342 Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 I've tried updating to the most recent Open Beta (not MT) but it downloads about 20% and then the computer locks up. After a few minutes, DCS crashes, and the computer runs very slow. Log attached... If I do not run DCS, or if I decline the update request, all is good. autoupdate_templog.txt
Flappie Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 Try this: Download the zip file linked at the bottom of this page: https://updates.digitalcombatsimulator.com/ Open the zip and paste its content into "E:\DCS World OpenBeta\bin". Run DCS and accept the update. Does it work, now? ---
VZ_342 Posted April 22, 2023 Author Posted April 22, 2023 Did as instructed, DCS locked up but was able to shut it down after about 5 mins. Windows was also sluggish, but was ok sooner than DCS. I do get a popup about "managing storage spaces", but don't appear to have anything bad (green is good, yes?)
Solution Flappie Posted April 23, 2023 Solution Posted April 23, 2023 I see you're having two mirrored drives. Maybe one of them is faulty, which would explain DCS going nowhere during the update process. Ensure your drives are OK, and Windows as well. Try these two commands one after the other in a "cmd" window: sfc /scannow dism ---
VZ_342 Posted April 24, 2023 Author Posted April 24, 2023 (edited) Edit: DCS is updated now after restarting a few times after scanning/fixing drives as below: Did the sfc /scannow, it said "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them." Thank you! Edited April 24, 2023 by VZ_342

Two questions: 1. You mention having two mirrored drives...I do not know what that is. Good or bad? This is basically an OEM computer (Alienware R7). 2. Curious....the pic of the storage pool (E: drive) says it is 1.00TB capacity, but is using 1.30 TB "pool capacity." Is that a problem? (The properties of the drive indicate it's using 650GB of its 1.00TB size, all DCS related) Thanks for helping, without the update I feel...outdated. hello. what does it show under the physical drives portion. storage spaces are new to Window 10/11.
