Creil airfield as it currently modeled on the Normandy 2.0 map appears in a modern NATO era configuration instead of its wartime layout. Below is a photo of Creil from 1944 followed by a current Google Earth image of the airfield.

Yes, it's true !  Moreover, there are many aerodromes which are not in conformity with the time!

however, I created a post to provide information on airfields:

In addition, there are many generic airfields with no similarities to period airfields.  It's really a shame for such a beautiful map... I hope the devs fix the flaws!

Yes I’ve noticed that many of the airfields are “copy-pasted”. For example Beauvais-Tille and Amiens-Glisy are the exact same airfield. Similarly, Odiham is just Conches copied and pasted into England which is really disappointing because it looks nothing like a wartime RAF base and they don’t even have the same number of runways! Poix is also exactly the same as Evreux. I hope they can bring all of these airfields up to the same standards as Villacoublay and Cormellies which are both excellent representations of the real airfields during the war.

Ahh yes I meant to say that Conches and Odiham don’t have the same number of runways, at least in the way Conches is represented in the game. Even still, Creil is the one that needs to be fixed the most because it’s not even a wartime airfield layout, the whole airfield is modeled as it looks in the present day.

I have already provided the layout of Odiham to the devs as well as a good number of airfields present on the map.  maybe they didn't have time to get the map out as soon as possible?  I don't know !

You right. the Creil airfield  is wrong, totally wrong. The problem with the Creil airfield is the current version. They didn't bother, satellite image the contours, digitalization and hop. During the war airfield was very different, the Germans even hid the planes in the woods nearby, there are still the slab accesses. This work isn't serious.

In the end, Nomandy's map is disappointing because it lacks the basics so as not to overshadow the Channel map. Rather than putting benches, kiosks etc... I would have preferred to have a realistic airfield,  So what about the other bases?

In this link you will find details about the Creil airfield during the war, (it is in French)

With the pic of the map, have fun looking for the differences (from the site "les amis du vieux Verneuil")

Yes, a 60 dollar map should be nothing short of absolute perfection, you are entitled to nothing less than superb precision ... hopefully your purchased it on Steam so you can return it and get a refund ... me?  I paid just US$ 10, so I intend to fully enjoy it as some inaccuracies dont bother me nor impede my flights.

I’m actually very impressed with Normandy 2.0, it is by far the best WWII map ever created for a flight sim. There are a few issues that need addressing, including Creil, Odiham, Poix, Amiens, and Conches, but I think these are just early access problems. The devs have shown they are willing to tweak airfields to make them correct, for example Villacoublay, Orly, and Cormellies are spectacular.

This map is very beautiful !  Only there are a lot of things to review.

By helping the devs we have a better chance of getting good improvements!

For example, there are quite a few airfields like Lornai or Broglie which were just fields with no hard construction: no hangars, just the minimum!  The planes were hidden under trees to hide from Allied reconnaissance.

For those who are interested, go to this post for information on the airfields on the maps.  I will take the time to add other information on other aerodromes.  Hoping it helps!

I think the map is a great improvement. I had both so it’s an upgrade that tends to allow you fly in one place rather than have jump between maps. Like all things ED, it should get better with time. Frame rates are excellent too, so I’m happy!

It's not just "some inaccuracies", man, it's sloppiness and plain laziness.

More than a few airfields that were supposed to be historically correct in the Normandy 1944 map now have a completely different layouts in the Normandy 2.0.

And more than a few have been simply cloned: Ugra literally took one airfield, rotated it and pasted under a new name, with all the little details such as bikes and crates at the exact same places.

These might be hard to spot when you have seventy aerodromes, but I do and it bothers me.

There's Ace Combat 7 now on Steam sale, for 10 USD, it had some inaccuraties in FM, DM, Model, and terrain, but it's for 10 USD, so You can fully enjoy it 😄
