Missions with carrier objects and deck crew placed on the deck randomly cause indefinite black screen at mission load, with these showing in the logs:

Missions without the Supercarrier and/or without carrier objects and deck crew will load as normal.

Removing the static objects/crew from any offending mission will load as normal.

Readding the static objects/crew and the mission will load normally until some arbritrary time where it will kick back these "can't open Objects" errors and DCS will hang up again.

Slow repair does not resolve the problem. Clearing fxo and metashaders2 does not resolve the problem. Rebooting my entire system appears to resolve the problem until it appears again.

Attached is log file from Fear the Bones, however only the last mission in the log exhibits the error.

Hi Nealius 

can you attach the mission or track also. 

It seems air boss is throwing some errors here also that maybe contributing to the crash

Today it was Mission 4 of Reflected's Fear the Bones campaign, so that may not be of help as a miz file but here is a miz file that has thrown back the same error in the past. I recently rebooted my system so no errors as of yet, but given a few more launches it will inevitably come back later today or tomorrow.

One oddity I've noticed is that if I launch the mission on a dedicated server and join through that, then as a client I can still load the mission fine even though it will hang if I were to try it in single player.

@Flappie yes, I've rebuilt my Saved Games folder about three times since this issue started, haven't seen any positive effect. I also have many of those mods (and official modules) disabled in the Mod Manager due to a VAICOM bug where having more than 30 or so modules causes issues with the voice commands; IIRC my problems started around the same time I was disabling modules, so I'll try enabling all the modules again to see if that fixes it.

I didn't know about the cleanup step, I've only been doing slow repairs. I'll give that a try and report back if the bug ever comes back.

No dice for me. Removed all mods except Echo19 sound mods, Tacview, SRS, VAICOM. Cleanup, slow repair. Still hanging on Sim PostStart with [us carrier tech] table in the logs.

Still an issue with 2.8.5.40170. I am unable to play any paid Supercarrier campaigns that I have bought (Raven One, Fear the Bones, Speed and Angels) because of this app hang. 

Missions hosted on a dedicated server work fine, but I can't run campaigns through a DS, so.....money down the drain on campaigns I can't even play due to this bug.

Hey Nealius,

just wanted to let you know I'm struggling with the same or at least a similar issue.

It started with creating a mission from scratch for singleplayer training where I'd put a supercarrier group with a lot of statics (planes and people) first and then extended with mission objectives and so on. The mission was playable for some time (don't remember how long or when exactly or until which beta update) and then it stopped working to load in singleplayer. A friend of mine was able to load it in singleplayer and joining this same mission in multiplayer was no problem. Only starting this mission at my end in singleplayer didn't work anymore and resulted in the same "us carrier tech table" error in the log and it freezes at "sim post start" in the loading screen.

Joining a multiplayer server or any other mission (trainings) with the supercarrier module works fine so I tried to find the error in the mission but with no luck until now. I tried short and long repair, deleting mods (high digit sams and sam site asset pack which I didn't implement so far), deleting the save folder and tried to check if any parameters are outdated (I found only one specific loadout for the F-14 not working anymore but this didn't solve the issue) or if anything collides with the supercarrier. I even checked the scripts (moose, mist and skynet iads) but they aren't the problem as you can see below.

After several hours it started a single time after moving a static F-14B for a few feet but the next time this didn't have any influence anymore and it won't start again. I only got the mission running in singleplayer after deleting the whole supercarrier group (removing only statics won't help) so I assume it's the supercarrier in any way.

I'll follow this thread in hope to get any further ideas.

It looks like you have a Super Puma mod (AS-332) installed. Disable this mod and see if your issue persists.

@Nealius  I see your logs also refers to a AS-332 unit. Do you know where it comes from?

Without the fire equipment it doesn't make any difference. Tried it before. Tried the other statics too. These errors vary. Sometimes it's this object, sometimes another... I even had these "duplicate message(s) skipped" in a two digit amount and it doesn't matter and loaded anyways.

It's the same with this unit error. Sometimes SH-60B, sometimes F-14B, even sometimes FA-18C. Really weird.

Yep,

This is the same kind of stuff I'm seeing when my missions hang at Sim PostStart as well. 

It always seems to involve missions with the Supercarrier (although I've not yet rigorously checked this, and I do fly the Hornet most of the time, so that may not be too much of a surprise)

Nevertheless, I'm getting a strong sense that this post and my post are encountering the same problem. Interestingly enough, when it works and when it doesn't, there still seems to be many of the same errors. In the failed case, it just never moves past that step.

I'll attach a couple logs from the other day, where one worked, and the other one failed...

Without the P25 fire-car it will still hang in reference to one of the other unit tables, like the 31A car, the Forrestal huffers, the crane, or any static deck crew. I believe this bug can be avoided by using the Supercarrier without placing any static deck crew or deck equipment, though I haven't tested that recently and of course, all payware campaigns have these statics in their missions for immersion, so it wouldn't allow me to play the SP campaigns anyway.

Clearing fxo/metashaders2 sometimes cleared the bug, but is inconsistent. Rebooting my computer also sometimes temporarily resolves it, but again it's inconsistent.

Hi there,

 

I also get these Sim PostStart hanging on mission load. I placed several ground personnel units at Nellis ramp. I've installed target range mod, but this wasn't a problem since.

Sometimes the mission loads, when I opend unit preview in mission editor. I've deleted this temp folders but this didn't help. Some logs attached.

edit: dcs_mission_load_success_2.log added after successful loading after clearing metashader and fxo folder.

F:\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Sounds
F:\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods/resource/FA-18 G-Breaths/Sounds

I tried downloading both of your missions. There are no freezes or black screen.
Please delete the folder F:\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods and try to launch any mission with a SuperCarrier.
Also I would like to ask you about the folder c:/users/neali/saved games/dcs
Do you have two Saved Games folders?

My OS is on C:\, my DCS and Saved Games are on F:\.

I do have a Saved Games folder on C:\ but the only program using it is DCS Updater Utility. I don't know why it's there because WIndows should send everything to my F:\Saved Games.

I cannot move Saved Games back to C:\ due to lack of storage space on that SDD.

Deleted Mods folder from Saved Games. Uninstalled all other mods (Echo19 Tomcat sound .exe, JGSME texture mods like Barthek's textures, etc.). It still hangs for 30+ minutes with the same error. Removing my entire DCS.openbeta folder also did not resolve it. New log attached.

If I create a new mission for debugging, the "can't open objects[us carrier tech]table" errors appear in the log but they do not cause an app hang, and the mission loads normally.

That log file was after I deleted the Mods folder, but before I removed the DCS.openbeta folder.

I don't have a DCS folder in neali/saved games, but I did delete the DCS Updater Utility folder just to see. Still no joy.
