Mootmoot Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 (edited) I was very hyped by this map with the annoucement trailers ,and i bought it the first day....but i only spent a couple of hours on it because of the visual glitches and the very poor textures! Since the last year we had Normandy2.0 and Sinaï witch are really gorgeous and detailled for less than 40 dollars....and South Atlantic witch seems to be a "Lock On: Modern Air Combat" mod for 70 dollars... Ok it's on developpement but Ugra Media and OnReTech gives us the product they show us on the trailers at the first release ....and Razbam did clearly not and the map still the worst of all after one year...so if the price was 10 or 15 dollars i would be ok with that...but it's the most expensive terrain module of DCS!!! So....any plans to prove i'm wrong ? Edited June 9, 2023 by Mootmoot 3
Furiz Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 I have to agree with this, this is the most expensive terrain module and you guys are slacking on it. It has great terrain and great scenery, I love how huge it is too and I know F-15E development and all, but then again is F-15E gonna be as bad quality as this map? For now I'm gonna find that out from others. I usually support devs with pre-orders and EA purchase, but Razbam currently is on my "no way" list. I hope next update will bring performance changes, and I hope I wont regret buying this map. 3
Beirut Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 I'm enjoying this map. It could use some love, many things in DCS could, but I thought it was a breath of fresh air. It's very different map with a different feel to it. I guess a worst it could be looked at as an experiments or a novelty, but this is a game after all and I think this map is good fun. I like the variety the maps are offering. And when you're not in the mood for the desert and the cities, we have different kind of map with mountains and rivers and an extraordinary amount of nothing at all. I hope after the F-15E is released in Q5 2027 the SA map will get some attention, but for the time being I think it's good fun and brings a nice - and big! - new sandbox to the sim. I have no regrets about buying this map. 2 Some of the planes, but all of the maps!

Mootmoot Posted June 15, 2023 Author Posted June 15, 2023 Quote but remember that when they were advertising SA map before EA release those images looked very good, later on we realized the reality is quite different. It is exactly what i tried to say in my initial post! 2

Did I say anything about the looks? I quoted a specific part of your post, replying that the performance might be improved in the next update. Dima | My DCS uploads
skywalker22 Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 I am also missing some (or quite) more detailed terrain meshes, specially out there in the mountains.
Gunfreak Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 (edited) Yeah for me it's the ground textures that's the problem. The map is 10 000 feet AGL only map. It looks gorgeous high above. But if you get within 1000 feet of the ground textures. It looks crap. Edited December 18, 2023 by Gunfreak 4 i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 5090 OC, 128Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.
