FlankerKiller Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 I know you guys are going your own way with the AI WSO, but I really wish you wouldn't. Hear me out. We the player base are already used to Jester. We are used to the rotery wheel, and what he can to. He would be great in the Mud Hen, although maybe a bit more professional. You guys are going to spend mony and time to reinvent the wheel. You could contract Heatblur to collaborate and put their AI in this thing, and be done with it. You already did an amazing job on this, well worth the wait. It flies awesome, and as it gets bugs sqashed it will be awesome. You are still my favorite studio. It just seems like there are better uses of your talents then doing again what has already been done. Keep up the good work the this bird is definitely going to be one of my favorites. 2
Ratfink Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 I'd like to see a decent AI WSO in F-15E and just to offer an objective opinion, Jester is well suited to the USN F-14 calling out bogey position, speed and alt, etc in the dogfight. George in the US Army AH-64 is a bit dull and needs more work. F-15E is USAF and don't see another AI compadre engine as an issue if it helps with immersion. I like Jester more than George, especially the banter and quips he makes, and would like similar in the Eagle. I've heard a 494th FS pilot say in regards crew co-ordination - "I row the boat, WSO shoots the ducks!" So any AI WSO would need to be fairly autonomous to allow the pilot to get the jet where it needs to be to allow the pointing of AG weapons and Jester may not allow for that. YoYo Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Even a simple script would be nice like - warning about threats. But Razbam, as far as I know, has never confirmed 100% that there will be a WSO. Rather, its necessary to talk about the fact that perhaps someday there will be time, maybe yes, maybe not. +1 for sure, its clear for all. Maybe, but he searches for targets, and talks you on. It's not much different than the Cat. Just a much better HUD and avionics suit. Eventually we will get more weapons. But at the end of the day, he runs the radar and the pod to search for targets and "talk you on" Jester can do that. I just can't see the investment to reinvent the wheel. I have no clue if Heat blur would collaborate or not. Nor do i know what the cost would be. there could be other factors at play. Just from my, and i suspect many others, perspective it would be nice to have one unified Ai RIO/WSO. I want to make Petrovitch scream like a little girl and cry. Same with Gorge, I want to hear "what the @%$& are you doing from time to time.

I had Viacom and it was pretty sweet when it worked. but it was difficult to rember all the commands. I also had issues with it not picking up my voice correctly. I would have to repeat myself a lot. But if it worked voice control of Jester would be absolutely amazing. Someone needs to make that a mod to prove it can be done. then see if Heatblur would pick it up. I have no issues with Jester, and I'm not a native English speaker. VAICOM, Virtual AI Communication, does not do any recognition at all. Neither does VoiceAttack. VoiceAttack just passes the audio to Microsoft Speech Recognition which does the speech-to-text witchery, and passes the text back to VoiceAttack, which compares it to the VAICOM keywords. If they match, it runs the VAICOM plugin, and VAICOM executes the DCS commands. So, if your commands didn't get recognised, you probably should have trained the Microsoft Speech Engine some more. Yes, it's veeeery boring and tedious, but makes wonders. VoiceAttack recommends at least three times. I did it 20. 10 times with normal voice. 10 times with a "robotic" one. Have now issues except for foreign strange uncommon ATC names.VAICOM is now free for all who have VoiceAttack, which cost around 10 bucks I was told yesterday.VAICOM does use the Jester wheel in the background, and removes the actual wheel. Which some finds annoying. It may seem daunting at first, but if you use it regularly, you'll have no problem remembering the commands. The HOTAS commands in the A-10C is probably harder to remember at first. Also, VAICOM has a training mode, which exploits the fact that the Microsoft Speech engine gets more and more trained to your voice the more you use it. Which makes it able to easily understand (predict) words you have never used before in the future. And if you really want to train it. Start dictating your emails and Word documents. That said. Hopefully Jester 2.0 will be in such a manner similar to Jester 1.0, that just a few changes will make VAICOM work in the F-4.I assume there will be several new commands, and they will obviously have to be incorporated into VAICOM as well. But I'm quite sure we'll get there soon after release.Cheers! Sent from my MAR-LX1A using Tapatalk

MAXsenna Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 It works again? Nice, I need to reinstall it. It's another wish but that technology needs to become native to DCS. Which would include the Ai back and front seaters. It actually never stopped working. Not sure what gave you that impression, or do you mean after a DCS update about nine months ago? Well, about the next day, VAICOM went open source, and we are a team of DCS enthusiasts that have taken it under our wings. I'm just testing/support, but it is in good hands with those who do the coding.Hopefully George/Petrovich will come eventually. Sent from my MAR-LX1A using Tapatalk
